BREAKING NEWS FOR FOUNDRY FANS: we succeeded in preventing the complete demolition of the #FoundrySite! The Province is now pivoting to an adaptive-reuse approach to the Foundry. See below for links to relevant documents. #SaveTheFoundry
Let's not make the folks who move in to the Foundry development have to explain to Uber Eats which "Eastern Ave" they actually live on. Vote "yes" to this proposal to rename the duplicate Eastern Ave after the Foundry. https://t.co/bJeGcEPUIA
@alexbozikovic@WaterfrontTO You sure picked your moment to take these shots... probably a weekday when most residents are working or in school. The extra-wide Promenade (which appears in only one of the shots) is very much enjoyed by residents and visitors here.
We are deeply grateful for the prompt and effective actions of Chief Planner @GreggLintern when heritage buildings were being destroyed on the #FoundrySite in January 2021. His even-handed and unflappable support made all the difference. Thanks, Gregg! https://t.co/IWphU1pGcA
2020: the Province claims the Foundry must be demolished for housing. 2023: the site is now a parking lot offering 2-year leases. The community wants housing, but through adaptive reuse of the heritage buildings rather than demolition and neglect.

We are grateful to the Toronto Preservation Board for adopting the motion to designate the #FoundrySite under the Ontario Heritage Act today! It's not designated yet... but this was the next step along the way.

The Foundry's buyer/developer (a.k.a. the De Gasperis family) is making a presentation to @WaterfrontTO Wednesday March 22 at 1:30pm. Open to the public.

The City is moving to designate the Foundry under the Ontario Heritage Act. Although the property was listed on the Heritage Register in 2004, full heritage designation should strengthen protection for the remaining buildings. https://t.co/5PDYfVZ329

Thanks @mattybing for pointing out the insanity of replacing heritage buildings with a parking lot in the name of "affordable housing". We hope the new owners will work with the community to adapt the remaining buildings and develop truly affordable housing.

@blogTO Here’s a look at the flattening taking place right now. Can’t see it here, but about 150m away @SteveClarkPC had “affordable housing” signs put up two years ago that are still there. This is a parking lot, it’s not affordable housing. It won’t even be affordable parking.
The worst part of the entire Foundry saga is that the province would probably have 1000 new affordable units under construction here right now if not for inexplicable callousness.
The De Gasperis family seem to have no plans to develop the #FoundrySite for some time: a parking provider is now offering 2-year leases on parking spaces on Foundry property. #SaveTheFoundry
Now @fordnation is allowed to have friends, but when your friends benefit from such highly localized land use decisions made by the Minister of @ONmunicipal@SteveClarkPC when is it no longer a coincidence, when is it conflict of interest @ON_Integrity, or worse?
Deep appreciation for the opposition gadflies who have been bedevilling Ford and his cosy gang of ethically-challenged yes-persons in #TorontoCentre since 2018 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 looking at you @kristynwongtam and @SuzeMorrison among others

Wasn't in staff report/materials, only landowners presentation 1/2
