@scottjshapiro Looking forward to hearing her answers to key questions like "why haven't you held a press conference until now?" and "how long will it be until your next press conference?"
@crampell My one "economics" hill that I'm willing to die on is that no economics paper should be published with low birth weight as a dependent variable if the paper doesn't have a medical doctor as one of the coauthors.
@TheStalwart 1) at the margin, there are plausible ways that we could have had more growth and/or less inflation, but taking the state of the world in May 2020 as a given, I think it's hard to imagine a scenario where we recover as quickly without above-target inflation.
@RadioFreeTom What frustrates me about all the political commentary surrounding universities is that political commentators seem unable to imagine that people attend college to study subjects unrelated to politics.
@SilvermanJacob @AirMailWeekly Good review. What I find odd is that notwithstanding Lewis's odd editorializing, the fact pattern he establishes in the book is quite damning.
@RadioFreeTom I am personally not big on formalities, but I agree with you here. Those with the most power should carry themselves with the seriousness and dignity of their position. We can't all be Groucho, somebody's got to be Margaret Dumont.
@AntonioFatas We're still seeing the aftermath of the great recession--no macroeconomists or central bankers who lived through that ever want to be seen as insufficiently pessimistic about the economy ever again.
@TheStalwart What you're describing is just textbook supply/demand. Demand curve shifts out, supply curve shifts in, new equilibrium has higher prices and lower quantities.
This is why a lot of economists dismissed "greedflation"--alternative to higher prices was shortages.
@TheStalwart Per my agency, yes we would be expected to work as normal. It's not like a government shutdown, with essential vs non-essential employees. The agency has received its appropriations and we are supposed to go to work under those conditions.
@idislikestephen@ditzkoff@alyankovic I found "Fat" to be the most surprising omission, and though I might have a few other songs that I would have put on the list, it's hard to think of which ones I'd take off to get them there.
