@BenGoldsmith@NoFarmsNoFoods Its James Melville - so no he in not a farmer. He mostly shares conspiracy theories and climate change denial nonsense. He is in the "WEF wants us to eat bugs" camp of people.
Unfortunately it doesn’t apply to those zoos, heritage organisations, gardens, museums, galleries, historic sites and other attractions which are charities, meaning that they have been placed at a competitive disadvantage during one of their most important trading periods. Great for private sector, not for charities.
@BenGoldsmith "Large or small, it’s just the best thing someone with resources can do." could not agree more!
Rewilding is not expensive, but it is incredibly valuable.
🦋Reintroducing butterflies?
❌Red tape.
🐸Digging a wildlife pond?
❌Planning permission.
🌱Restoring seagrass meadows?
❌Multiple, expensive licences.
💧Creating a wetland?
❌Investment blocked by regulators.
YIMBYs and on-the-ground environmentalists have more in common than they might think.
This is horrific. According to the Natural History Museum’s Biodiversity Intactness Index, the UK ranks 189th out of 240 countries and territories for how intact its nature and biodiversity remain.

Despite all the talk and the desperate need for action the Kings Speech failed to mention any action for nature. There is a reason why so many people are turning to the Green Party!
Republican efforts to extinguish the last remaining bison (currently at 0.1% of their former numbers) are truly a crime against America. You literally could not make it up. How any American stands by this is beyond comprehension.
Shame on @GovGianforte

Busy bees! 🐝🍯
One of our Conservation Officers Ty Capel, assisted our Wildwood Beekeepers Janet & Jenny in their spring checks and captured some incredible footage.
Have you ventured down to the Bee Zone recently? 💛
@333peterobinson A classic case of being rude, not listening, and viewing things through a blinkered, old-school lens — dismissive, divisive, and unnecessarily arrogant.
We’re incredibly proud to have supported David Attenborough’s new BBC series Secret Gardens, now live, providing advice and dormouse expertise built from over 20 years of hands-on conservation work 🐭
Our team has spent decades carefully breeding and supporting this endangered species, so we’re really pleased to help raise the profile of dormice and highlight their urgent need for protection.
Wildwood’s dedicated conservation team are leading experts in breeding dormice for the national reintroduction programme, which has seen over 1000 dormice successfully reintroduced to suitable woodlands where they have previously become extinct.
The series has arrived at the perfect time too! Here at Wildwood, our dormice are just beginning to wake from their long, sleepy torpor. As spring arrives, these tiny, golden mammals are slowly stirring, ready to explore the woodlands once again in planned releases later this year!

We were delighted to officially unveil our new swift box display and information boards at the park entrance at Wildwood Trust, alongside Cllr Steph Jupe in her role as Sheriff of Canterbury.
This important installation is designed to inspire and support local residents with practical guidance on installing swift boxes, helping to create much-needed nesting spaces across our communities.
Swifts will soon be returning to the UK after their incredible 6,000-mile migration from central Africa, but their numbers are in steep decline, particularly here in the South East. Now listed on the UK Red List of Birds of Conservation Concern, largely due to the loss of nesting sites and a decline in insect food.
This makes the timing of this display especially important!
We’re incredibly proud to be part of this collaborative effort and would like to thank everyone involved in bringing the project to life, as well as the continued support from the Council and local partners. By showcasing this at our entrance, we hope to raise awareness and empower more people to take simple, meaningful steps to help swifts return, nest, and thrive once again 💚
