The World Cup begins tomorrow, and many will watch the matches. Soccer reminds us of something we must not forget: life is not a race to show off on our own, but a path we learn to walk together. Anyone who does not know how to pass the ball, even if they have talent, has not yet understood the game. Anyone who does not know how to live with and for others has not yet understood life. #ApostolicJourney
Corpus Christi is more than just another celebration on the liturgical calendar. It is a way of returning to the heart of the faith to renew our love and fidelity to God. It is a profession of faith in the presence of the Risen Lord, who is alive and continues to walk among us, who becomes bread to satiate our hunger for life, and visits the recesses of our hearts and history, even those shrouded in darkness. #ApostolicJourney https://t.co/CFODkhPd0Q
In the era of #ArtificialIntelligence, when human dignity is threatened by new forms of dehumanization, ours is the pressing duty to remain profoundly human. We must lovingly safeguard the grandeur of humanity bestowed upon us and revealed in its fullness in Christ, the splendor of which no machine can ever replace. #MagnificaHumanitas

No nation, no society, and no international order can call itself just and humane if it measures its success solely by power or prosperity while neglecting those who live at the margins. Indeed, Christ’s love for the least and the forgotten compels us to reject every form of selfishness that leaves the poor and the vulnerable invisible.
May the Lord help you to become a society in which everyone, each according to their respective responsibilities, works ever more fully to serve the common good rather than private interests, bridging the gap between the privileged and the disadvantaged. May there be greater room for freedom, and may the dignity of the human person always be safeguarded.
Without a change of direction in the assumption of political responsibility, and without respect for institutions and international agreements, humanity's destiny risks being tragically compromised. God does not want this. His holy Name must not be profaned by the desire for domination, arrogance, or discrimination. Above all, it must never be invoked to justify death-dealing choices and actions.
Pope St. John Paul II: “We need to clarify the essential difference between an unhealthy form of nationalism, which teaches contempt for other nations or cultures, and patriotism, which is a proper love of one's country. True patriotism never seeks to advance the well-being of one's own nation at the expense of others. For in the end this would harm one's own nation as well: doing wrong damages both aggressor and victim. Nationalism, particularly in its most radical forms, is thus the antithesis of true patriotism” (Address to the Fiftieth General Assembly of the United Nations, 1995)
#Christmas reminds us that God makes Himself known by drawing near to us, not in grandiose events or by revealing Himself from afar. God does not remain in some inaccessible heaven, but comes to meet us in the very heart of our ordinary lives. He shows us that daily life, just as it is, can become the place to encounter God.
A year ago, then-Cardinal Prevost concelebrated the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe while Pope Francis was in fragile health. A year later, this morning, he celebrated his first papal Mass as Leo XIV in honor of the Patroness of the Americas. Also on December 12, in 2014, he was consecrated Bishop of Chiclayo.
Let us entrust his intentions and his pontificate to our Mother of Tepeyac.
“Am I not here, who am your Mother?”
On this feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe, we remember the Mother who draws near to her children with tenderness and strength. We entrust our fears to the one who holds us in her arms and leads us to Christ.
Our Lady of Guadalupe, pray for us.
Today we celebrate the great feast of St. Thomas Aquinas, the Angelic Doctor!
His great love for the Eucharist, the Blessed Virgin Mary, and the Passion of Christ sustained his life of study and preaching as a Dominican Friar.
St. Thomas Aquinas, pray for us!
It probably seems strange to a lot of folks.. but while Christ is the Dominican’s greatest friend. Books come in pretty high on the list. It’s hard to be a Dominican if you don’t enjoy reading books.
@BethMooreLPM Have you heard of the @AmSolidarity ? You should take a look at them & see how their values align with being Christian and a good Citizen.
