Pope Leo at Castel Gandolfo concert tonight: “We live in a world where beauty is lacking. There are so many problems—wars, conflicts, hatred, violence, unemployment, and much else besides. Having the opportunity to gather for an occasion like this is truly a great gift, for it reminds us that there is more to life than all of that. It reminds us that men and women—when we choose to do so, and when we stand together—can reveal a beauty that, passing from heart to heart, helps us to see and to lift our gaze toward the heavens.”
Pope Leo urged world leaders to end the ‘madness of war’ during a prayer vigil, highlighting letters from children in conflict zones and calling on leaders to listen to their voices https://t.co/Pu0CB9IYaw
Pope Francis, even in his later years, unable to celebrate Mass, would still go on his knees to wash the feet of prisoners; men and women, Catholic and Muslim, on Holy Thursday.
Pope Leo said God rejects the prayers of leaders who start wars and have "hands full of blood," in unusually forceful remarks as the Iran war entered its second month.
Addressing tens of thousands in St. Peter's Square on Palm Sunday, the celebration that opens the holy week leading up to Easter for the world's 1.4 billion Catholics, the pontiff called the conflict "atrocious" and said Jesus cannot be used to justify any wars. https://t.co/fvOz1JH34C

Vatican newspaper front page again nails it, describing the pain and death resulting from the immoral Trump-Bibi war as a “scandal for the entire human family”
At the Vatican Angelus March 22, 2026, Pope Leo XIV said he follows the war and violence in the Middle East “with dismay,” calling the suffering of “defenseless people” a “scandal for the entire human family.” He urged prayer “so that hostilities may cease.”
"I've never seen an American president, not just in our lifetime, in the last two centuries of American history, be that critical of a British prime minister." @RNicholasBurns tells me "a fundamental mistake is: disparage your allies, make life difficult for them at home, you really can't expect them to be with you in a fight that they didn't start
On March 15, the Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem, Cardinal Pierbattista Pizzaballa, condemned the use of God’s name to justify wars, deploring the terrible living conditions in the Gaza Strip and noting that President Donald Trump’s Board of Peace is not ... https://t.co/EClcXXMkcC
The abuse and manipulation of God’s name to justify this and any other war is the gravest sin we can commit at this time” said Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem Cardinal Pierbattista Pizzaballa at a webinar on the conflict ravaging the Middle East. https://t.co/7JYDAZ0v20
Cardinal Tobin: “Before he was a saint, St. Patrick was an immigrant, a young man taken from his home, carried across the sea, and forced to begin slave labor in a foreign land…. St. Patrick didn’t forget the circumstances of the country that once enslaved him.” https://t.co/cwMo53Io5e
NY’s Archbishop Hicks: “Just as Irish immigrants once came to this country seeking hope and opportunity, today many immigrants come to our nation…we are called to see them not as strangers, but as brothers and sisters.” https://t.co/ZbCMggue5X
At the Angelus March 8, 2026, Pope Leo XIV prayed for bombs to cease and weapons to fall silent as conflict in Iran and the Middle East fuels fears of wider instability, including in Lebanon. He urged dialogue so “the voice of the people can be heard.”

“We have perfected our weapons, our conscience has fallen asleep.
We have refined our reasons to justify ourselves, as if it were something normal.
We continue to sow destruction, pain, death.
War, only brings death.
It speaks of death.
War has the language of death.”
We are proud to support eight dioceses in Texas—helping to strengthen parishes, form leaders, and reveal the light of Christ in communities across the Lone Star State! We sat down with several Texas bishops who shared what’s unique about each of their dioceses.
🚨 Unprecedented statement from the Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem, Cardinal Pierbattista Pizzaballa.
He criticized the international community for failing to protect Palestinians and accused it of double standards toward Israel, saying it does not treat it as it treats Russia.
He said Palestinians feel growing anger at the failure of international institutions to protect civilians or impose on Israel the kind of sanctions placed on Russia over Ukraine.
“Why does the international community allow Israel to do to Palestinians what it does not allow Russia to do in Ukraine?”
He added, “What is built on violence (the occupation) is destined to fail; it is only a matter of time.”
