Pakistan welcomes the unanimous Award of the Court of Arbitration today, which decisively rejects India’s unlawful attempt to place the Indus Waters Treaty “in abeyance” and reaffirms that the Treaty remains fully in force and binding on both parties.

The Award vindicates Pakistan’s consistent position that a binding international treaty cannot be unilaterally suspended or set aside. India must fully comply with its obligations under the Treaty and with the binding decisions of its dispute settlement mechanisms.

Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates, Shafqat Ali Khan, called on Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar on the sidelines of the Regional Envoys’ Conference in Islamabad.

During the meeting, the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister emphasized the need to further expand cooperation between Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates across diverse fields and to strengthen bilateral relations.

Chief of the General Staff of the Kuwaiti Army Lieutenant General Khaled Al-Shuraian held talks on Tuesday with Director General of Military Operations of the Pakistani Army Brigadier Naveed Abbas on ways to further develop joint military defense cooperation in support of mutual interests.

In a press statement, the General Staff of the Kuwaiti Army said the discussions took place during Lieutenant General Al-Shuraian's reception of Brigadier Abbas and his accompanying delegation on the occasion of their visit to Kuwait.

Chinese FM Wang Yi held a phone conversation with Pakistani Deputy PM & FM Mohammad Ishaq Dar.

Wang Yi reiterated China’s principled position, commended #Pakistan for facilitating US-Iran talks and helping extend the temporary ceasefire. He expressed hope that Pakistan will maintain confidence, step up mediation efforts and contribute to properly resolving the issue of opening the Strait of Hormuz and the early restoration of regional peace, which is also the common aspiration of the international community.

China will continue to support Pakistan’s mediation efforts and make its own contribution toward this end.
