During the Barangay Day of Quezon City, Mayor Joy Belmonte goes up the podium with thundering applause from all Barangay officials.

The energy is electric and she is speaking after Vice Mayor Gian Sotto who already mentioned the concerning issues in the national government.

Mayor Joy recounts the Facebook post of Bea, the daughter of a DPWH Engineer who resigned from the position because he was told to sign on a non-existent (ghost) project.

She makes the audience say, “Dapat all!”

The audience shouts loudly.

Mayor Joy Belmonte then gives a trivia about the words “good governance” - she notes that it seems like it’s only a word in the Philippines because bad governance is an option.

She congratulates all Barangay officials who took up further studies in the Quezon City University and how Barangay officials are at the forefront of good and effective governance.

She called on all Barangay officials to be loyal to the public and not to a single politician.

“We should only be loyal to the public we serve!

Not to a politician. Bakit? Dahil pinapa travel or trip kayo?

Taumbayan ang dahilan bakit tayo nandito.”

She ends by saying integrity should be the core of public servants and integrity is important in public service. 💯
