Leading up to the Zero Waste Fest organized by the #MombasaPlasticsPrize Incubator, Swahilipot and Brandspark PR, one of the partners of the incubator, conducted a hybrid group networking, mentorship, and learning session for innovators within the incubator and Chemolex, one of the winners of the Afriplastics Challenge. During this session, Chemolex's founders shared their experiences post-winning the Afriplastics Challenge, their strategies for entering new markets, how they've identified viable business opportunities in plastic waste management, and how they've navigated industry regulations.

Swahilipot Hub and the partners of the #MombasaPlasticsPrize Incubator will host the Zero Waste Fest on Saturday, March 30th, to celebrate the International Day of Zero Waste, with a specific focus on plastic waste management.

A visit to Indiana Plastics in Changamwe; we had the chance to take a tour of the facility, learned various recycling machines, and how the plastic ecosystem works for the Kenyan market. We've also managed to see their machinery with a keen interest on the extruder machine.

Swahilipot extends congratulations to Plastic Taka Creatives on the launch of their inaugural buyback shop and community center situated in Kisauni Sub-county, Mombasa County. This impactful initiative is poised to significantly enhance plastic waste recovery rates within the community, addressing the pressing issue of marine plastic pollution while concurrently fostering the creation of green jobs, particularly for the youth. Plastic Taka Creatives is among the nine ventures being provided with financial and non-financial support as part of the Mombasa Plastics Prize (MPP) Incubator, which is a collaborative effort supported by USAID and the US Department of the Interior and delivered by Challenge Works, Proportion Global, Close the Gap Hub, Swahilipot, and Brand Spark PR.
