@triplemfooty So correct me if I’m wrong..did Hawthorn coaches try to rectify or downplay the comment before the game or allow it to sit on s/media as a psychological pressure point against Ken and Port. You make comments then back it up or cop it when you don’t measure up. Bad luck Jack G
@secomb_michael @news_australian Why Jan 1st? The Barton government first came to power following the first elections of the Commonwealth in 1901. Formed by the Protectionist Party, supported by the Labor Party and being contingent upon the election campaign of the White Australia Policy being enacted.
@Mag9nus @AshleyLeahy These weren’t national holidays but ALL were fundraisers in 1915-1918 to raise money mainly for prosthetics for dismembered Diggers. Check it out. We even had a Belgium Day in 1915 to raise money for them. In this time period Empire Day and State foundation days were celebrated.
@n720ute@macsween_prue@AlboMP We all do realise that the quoted 1915-1918 Australia Days were not a public holiday but fundraisers to mainly buy prosthetics for wounded diggers? In fact check it out we also had a Belgium Day in 1915. And British Empire Day. And 6 different State Holidays.
@RudyGiuliani Remember 1776 and becoming a Republic? The Queen is not only the Queen of the UK but 15 different countries including Australia, NZ, Canada and PNG. I’m sure you good folks of the US don’t want to rejoin the Monarchy so you can get better seats.
@Talisma67813202 @GMOChannel Yes understood. However injury/death did occur at Tianamen between April and June. In regards to the 39 of the more than 20k Aus troops in Afghanistan, they are to be tried for their crimes. I think its not wise to judge majority by the actions of the minority in both cases
@DeAnna4Congress In South Australia (1.7 million pop 440 cases 0 active, 4 deaths. Very tough lockdown by our conservative right state government at start. Comparison to New Mexico (2mil pop, 15k cases 500 dead). Nth Dakota 800k pop, 4300 cases 87 dead. Very worried for US friends. Stay safe all
@CUCUMBER_WARMER@longhorny1 All good. My point is that fires in Australia are started by natural events even birds. The fire up the road from me was power lines sparking and lightning on Kangaroo Island. It is pissing people off in Australia saying it is arson. 2% of bushfires now reported as arson only.
@Jaysock2 @LadyRedWave@PatreciaRogers@HillaryClinton Not where I live. They ran out of time but got 35 burn offs in. It got hot too quickly this year. Burn offs happen annually in South Australia. Still had massive fires. https://t.co/LXjBwoQ9Qk
@psayli@LadyRedWave@jennifer_0780@HillaryClinton They certainly light up a lot of fires Brown Hawks, Whistling Kites. Only other animals on the planet to use fire as a tool. Yep they live in the top of Australia. Please let everyone know. Australia has an unique relationship with fire but to say it is all humans is ridiculous.
@psayli@LadyRedWave@jennifer_0780@HillaryClinton You folks not getting current Oz news? Not arson. Where I lived the fire was started by power lines and lightning. Next state over 1200 lightning strikes. Anyway we have natural arsons that start fires. Look up Firehawks. Add them to the list of animals that will kill you in Oz.
@maryjane_10_ @FiveRights In a Fire Ban season, break the law and stupidly endanger everyone you will be charged. So throw a cigarette out a car window, use power tools in an open area, fire up a BBQ, try to back burn on a Ban Day. 176 idiots but real arsonists?? Good preventative law; Operation Nomad SA
@FiveRights Let's clarify the '200'. We have a Fire Ban season. You throw a cigarette out a car window, use power tools in an open area, fire up a BBQ, try to back burn on a Ban day makes the other 176 idiots that will be fined and charged but real arsonists? Check out Operation Nomad in SA

@ZillahP8ntsFire@algore Yep...because the charges range from throwing a cigarette out a car window, open flame BBQs, using power tools in open areas, lighting a fire in your backyard on a Fire Ban day. The actual number of pyromaniacs is 24. Fines are applied. Arsonists get jail time and city based.
@AnnaFearNot @algore@tveitdal Climate nor humans caused the fire. The ignition was predominantly caused by lightning and branches falling on power lines. the Police forces in SA and Vic have said nothing suspicious. NSW has said 6 of 130 fires lit by humans. Sad to see the world believing this.
