I am an elevator mechanic and have installed snapcabs before and as far as how we've used them, they produce cab panels to elevator spec and customer finish choice. They could do more but that's been my experience at least

Yes some stuff is negotiated to preserve work/workers, But so many elevators are custom to each building/shaft, theres alot of on site specific work needed to complete projects. Total prefab wouldn't be as effcient/possible as most would think it would.

@MTabarrok @AlecStapp Insurance is astronomical and the best mechanics are union and will never leave to go nonunion. It's enforced by membership where you report to the union rep if there is excessive prefab. If the rep shows up on your job and you didn't take the right step you'll be fined/suspended

@JesseTayRiver @AlecStapp @snapcab Depends on the state. Down south where it's right to work there is more. on the whole I'd say it's union dominated. In some areas there are 0 non union companies installing regular elevators and escalators. And snapcab has a nice product but they are just a material manufacturer
