Let’s make one small change to point #5—working as a carpenter—but leave everything else the same. I’m not disagreeing with the point, just offering another perspective: If that carpenter is 40 and retires at 65, Canada will get 25 working years out of that francophone carpenter
Just so everyone understands. Let’s say that:
1) I’ve never been to Canada
2) speak fluent French, average English
3) am over 40 years old
4) have a 2 year college diploma
5) am working in an assistant role
6) spouse with same background
I have above this cutoff score
Read the room bro. You charge people 1k to fly from Toronto to Vancouver while it's only $500 to get from Toronto to Orlando. You are loosing this battle. Stop tweeting take your L and Pay your staff.
CUPE, Air Canada’s flight attendants’ union, rejects agreement to fly Canadians home. As a result, 25 000 additional passengers are going to be stranded abroad.
@BowersWrites Hey Alex been following your story for a while now! I’m an immigration consultant would love to help you figure this out. Send me a DM! I tried messaging you privately but I was not able to!
Last week I paid $40 -$20 for me and $20 for my 3 year old- to enter a museum, my teacher wife and youngest (under 2) didn't pay. A visit to a museum sets back a family of four $80 and if you go to the gift shop and spend $20 then it's $100 this is really good policy .

@MatthewIwama @CPC_HQ I'm an immigrant, millennial,father of 3, business owner, and I will be voting for @MarkJCarney .
I agree with all your points except point 1, I don't like a career politician. Carney has options and is choosing to serve Canada, I think he is the man to address points 2-6.
I hope todays attack on Canada brings Canadians together and allows for provinces to let’s go of this interprovincial tarifa and regulations and allows Canadians to buy Canadian not just intrapronvincial.
Big political news out of Ottawa today. CFIB wishes PM Trudeau the best on his future.
I remain deeply concerned about the significant political and economic facing the country in the months ahead, particularly given the threat of US tariffs and the lack of direction on major domestic issues.
As one example, the Canada Revenue Agency has been collecting higher taxes on capital gains since late June, based on a proposal in the April 2024 federal budget. No legislation has been introduced, and even if it had, today's decision to prorogue Parliament would mean the bill is "entirely terminated".
I take no issue with CRA's original decision to implement the change on June 25 pending legislation, based on the Ways and Means motion. But the situation has fundamentally changed and CRA is in unscripted territory. Consider the following:
1. It has been almost 9 months since the 2024 budget and the government has failed to even introduce the legislation.
2. Parliament has now been prorogued and all outstanding business is "entirely terminated".
3. When Parliament resumes, it seems most likely we will head into an election before major new legislation can be introduced, passed or proclaimed.
4. The Conservative party has indicated it opposes the proposed increase in capital gains.
To provide the clarity small business owners need, CFIB is calling on the CRA to immediately revert to the previous 50% capital gains inclusion rate. Instead, all parties should outline their position on capital gains changes as part of their 2025 election platforms. Only after an election and fully transacted legislation should CRA implement any change.
Canadians and Canadian business owners need and deserve as much clarity and confidence as possible at this challenging time.
