The Nationals just won 16 games in a month for the first time since August 2023 and only the second time since June 2021. And they just won three straight series over legit playoff contenders (at ATL, at CLE, vs SD).
@DougLesmerises@BillLandis25 claims that wild cards winning MLB world series isn't the same. There were most who said going beyond 4 had no chance of winning which has not been true the last 2 years. Why do we assume they can't win?
@AriWasserman any chance you listened to BAD podcast on why 24 team playoff. Essentially trading conference title games for playin weekend and extra round of on campus games. Iโm not convinced but get the argument
@DougLesmerises I don't understand why people are against guaranteed spots. You could even do something where if you win the title your conference gets and extra guaranteed spot (see ACC/B12) and team that finishes worst loses a spot (see B10/ACC). Could limit to max of 4 and min of 2 spots.
@AlGaldi@Nats_Chat I agree they are broken, but what you're really saying is all the trades of Soto, Scherzer, Turner, etc. were for nothing as most of those pieces are now begin traded again.
@TheNatsBlog I get that they don't want to invest in front of a lockout, but 6 years into the rebuild I just keep thinking..."if nothing changes, nothing changes" At some point they are going to have to invest around this "young talent"
@Underwood_szn Missing the forest for the trees here. Feels like itโs hurting those programs, but it is bringing in the cash which is the great talent equalizer
