@_imey@ollieparrot@NickBuckleyMBE Farage is a professional agitator. Nothing more. He lobs grenades from the sidelines because that's easy to do with minimal risk & accountability. Running a government is something quite different & if it came to it, he would find a way to not be in the position of full power.
@IngEmpireWatch@EsheruKwaku The notions of gravity have been built and discussed by ancient Greek, Indian, Islamic scholars. The knowledge Galileo, Newton, Cavendish and Einstein no doubt used as building blocks.
@IngEmpireWatch@EsheruKwaku First recorded language - Sumerian
First recorded mapping of lunar cycles - Sumerian or Egyptian
First recording of numbers - Mesopotamia
All knowledge is built with the bricks of knowledge that came before
@Ladykorg@FuseODG I think (and I don't know so really happy to be corrected) that the whole project removes agency. What people want is agency, not money & not to be viewed as "poor Africans that can't help themselves". They can, they just need opportunity. This shouldn't be happening in 2024.
Maccabi Tel Aviv fans were filmed chanting racist, genocidal slogans. They were also reportedly attacking local Muslims.
For the BBC to fail to mention this in its reporting of the violence in Amsterdam last night is disgraceful. Sky the same. /1

@belle_aec It was the gloating that did it for me. There was nothing gracious about the victory.
I will say, I now don't know anyone personally that thinks it was a good idea. I had to leave them to figure that out for themselves and either come back - or not.
@belle_aec When brexit was voted for in the UK it unleashed a really unpleasant undertone here. It showed us who people really were and emboldened the rats to come out into the light and say what they like with impunity. What you guys are dealing with is worse tbh.
Put yourself first.
@buhashee@vivamjm I cannot get my head around this. Even IF the business exporting the goods had to pay the tariffs - as he somehow thought. Surely the analogy would still apply that the business would pass the costs onto the customer who would then pass it on to the consumer...
Am I broken?!
@maiainmi@karolcummins Wish I could tell u that would make a difference. It won't Lots of us in the UK thought that once the terrible repercussions of brexit were seen, people would start to realise. They don't. They just say it wasn't a proper brexit or they blame the EU. Anything but the thing itself
@austinrathe@JoshEakle UK business here๐
Can confirm that that ball is already in motion and have already been contacted about air freighting.
I think this is going to be a much bigger problem then people realise.
