When we took office, the minimum wage was $6,200 per week. We increased it to $16,000.
During our next term, we will double the minimum wage to $32,000, using a phased approach.
The minimum wage will increase to $18,500 during the next budget.
That's real progress.
That's the JLP Doing More For You.
Put your X beside the bell.
We will double the minimum wage from where it is now at 16,000, to 32,000.
In the very first budget it will move to 18,500 and then continue to rise.
Why? Because at 3.3 percent unemployment, Jamaica is almost at full employment, but many are still on the margins. By gradually raising the minimum wage, more Jamaicans will choose steady work, productivity will rise, and our economy will grow even stronger.
For nine years we have kept the economy stable. No new taxes, tax relief for you, and steady wage increases. Now it is time to take the next step, moving Jamaica towards a true livable wage.
If we look at the region, Barbados is at 33,600. Trinidad is at 21,000. Jamaica must step up.
As we do this, we will encourage growth and support equity as we reach those who most require this kind of wage improvement.
We are the party that moves people from poverty to prosperity. We love the poor, but we hate poverty. And with your support, every Jamaican will have the chance to rise.

Tonight, I met with Frederica, a hardworking mother from my constituency, who is caring for five children, including her son who has autism. She spoke powerfully about the struggles faced by parents of children with disabilities, high costs of assessments, limited financial support, and the daily challenges of providing proper care.
Her story reinforces why our government has committed to establishing assessment centres in every parish, ensuring that families no longer face prohibitive costs to access help.
We are also increasing allocations for children with disabilities, expanding the number of training and assessment institutions, and ensuring that once a child is assessed and the family is deemed in need, they are automatically placed on the PATH program.
Policy is not written in isolation, it comes from listening to real stories like Frederica’s. And I want every mother, father, and caregiver in Jamaica’s disability community to know, your voices are being heard, and your struggles are shaping the policies we put forward.
@veneshatweets Sigh can't believe these people are so blatantly lie.these votes won't be counted until next week.i really wish my one vote could wipe out the pnp.
The opposition continues to make irresponsible promises that would only increase the national debt and force Jamaicans to pay more taxes.
Do not let our hard-earned growth go to waste because of empty and reckless promises.
The Jamaica Labour Party is a results-driven organization.
We built the strongest economy in decades. We reduced debt, expanded jobs, and invested in health, housing, water, and education.
We are transforming communities, empowering families, and creating opportunities for every Jamaican.
This is the Next Chapter of Jamaica's success story.

@mamachell Why pnp are so dishonest the jlp did not oppose to any journalists, the pnp came with a list of nnn journalists that they don't want to participate. As a matter of fact the even said if George Davis or Emily Sheilds are involved they would boycott the debate.
Prime Minister Dr Andrew Holness has distributed 70 land titles to residents of Norwood, St James, a continuation of the administration’s push to formalise land ownership and give families lasting security of tenure.
