The various peshmerga groups that report to different political and religious groups in northern Iraq, are corrupt militia system that suck the blood of Iraq, yet they do not report to the central government. That is foolish policy by the Iraqi leaders who have accepted this situation for too long. It is time to draw a red line.
@SafeenDizayee Why are you calling upon the French ambassador when you Kurds have decided for almost 2 years (okay 1 year and 9 months) not to form a government and agreed to disagree with each others?
@vvanwilgenburg@masoud_barzani@KrdChronicle Your militias (peshmerga) cannot have a special treatment, Mr. Masoud. You are part of Federal Iraq and all the laws will apply to everyone.
@rudaw_arabic This kind of talk is poetic. There is no politically recognized country by the name of Kurdistan; there never was at any time of history.
@MansfieldWrites I wonder, how could any righteous man accept to support invaders over the indigenous people.
You could support the Kurds since they deserve to govern themselves, but how could you allow that to happen at the expense of the indigenous Assyrians, Armenians and Yezidis.
And what do you call Masoud Barzani when he asked help from Saddam Hussein in 1996 during the Kurdish-Kurdish civil war? Barzani asked for help from non-other than Saddam Hussein in order to forced Talabani out from Arbil during the 1994-1997 Kurdish Barzani-Talabani civil war.
Imagine, Barzani labeled Saddam Hussein as a war criminal for the 1988 Anfal operations, but only after 8 years from that date, Barzani asks for help from Saddam.
lol. That is a pure lie. Someone made the decision to establish an armed group, and it started with a tribal leader. You cannot establish an armed group without having a system of command or leadership that guides the militias or decides where to obtain weapons, where and when to attack, etc. etc.
Stop the lies that make no sense.
Calling this an official document, is laughable.
1. Notice that one number is scratched over and two others are partly manipulated.
2. Notice that the numbers are written in led pencil which could have also been erased and new numbers written instead later.
3. Notice that there is no official stamp or signature of the person who conducted the census.
4. Fact is that after the fall of the Ottoman Empire many documents were seized and replaced.
5. This list, like few others that are spread around, could not represent the official document of an empire that ruled for some 600 years.
Majority of the lands that you superimposed and covered with that modern political Kurdish flag are historically NOT Kurdish lands. Armenia extends further south. Assyria covers most of northern Mesopotamia. Yezidi lands you have devoured. and Lurs and Bakhtiyaris lands you have suppressed.
Kurdish historic lands are strictly the northern parts of the Zagros Mountains.
Lets explain,
1. Why do you insert Kurds everywhere, when this exact term Kurd was first created by the Sassanids (3rd - 7th century) when they applied the Middle Persian term Kwrt, or tent-dweller nomads, on ALL the nomads of the Zagros Mountains? Meaning, the term Kurd did not reflect an ethnic group but a social class. The Sassanid term Kwrt (evolved in time into Kort and Kurd).
2. There were no Kurds in Anatolia, Mesopotamia before Islam.
3. The term Kurds has been used by other peoples besides the Persians, such as Assyrians in their Syriac documents, in early Islam to mean bandits, robbers (the nomads who roamed the mountains and attacked travelers and nearby villages).
4. The term Kurd only acquired the status of distinct people around the 10th - 12th century.
