Teamsters General President Sean M. O’Brien presented his report to delegates of the Teamsters 31st International Convention in Las Vegas.
O’Brien highlighted the remarkable strides the union has taken over the last five years. These accomplishments include organizing 100,000 new workers, securing passage of high priority legislation at all levels of government, and waging 350 strikes against the worst employers in North America.
“Over the last four years, Teamsters across North America reminded the world exactly who we are. We organized at unprecedented rates. We mobilized in every corner of the continent. We negotiated strong contracts across all industries. We took on greedy employers and held corrupt politicians accountable. And we struck more than 350 times,” O’Brien said. “Together, we rebuilt the Teamsters into the most aggressive, effective, and respected labor union on Earth. We’re bigger. We’re faster. We’re stronger. The Teamsters are back, baby, so buckle up!”
On the first day of the Teamsters 31st International Convention in Las Vegas, Teamsters General Secretary-Treasurer Fred Zuckerman delivered his report on the state of the union’s finances.
Zuckerman reported that the Teamsters have over $1 billion in total assets and more than $365 million in the strike and defense fund, and he discussed modernization efforts the International Union is engaging in to best serve affiliates.
“The rank-and-file are the reason for every success we celebrate today. They are the reason our finances are strong and why our organizing efforts are succeeding,” Zuckerman said. “They are also the reason the Teamsters remain the most respected, feared, and effective union in North America. And when they are forced to strike, our members walk the line with confidence because they know their union has the finances to have their back.”
Tomorrow the U.S. House will vote on the bipartisan Faster Labor Contracts Act. With this vote, it will be unequivocally clear who’s supporting American workers in both word and action — and who’s just paying lip service to get re-elected. The Faster Labor Contracts Act is THE bill. And now is the time. Are you standing with workers or are you standing in our way? #resultsnotexcuses. @HouseGOP@HouseDemocrats
NEARLY 800 REPUBLIC AIRWAYS WORKERS JOIN TEAMSTERS
Airline Maintenance Technicians (AMTs) with Republic Airways have voted overwhelmingly to join the Teamsters, resulting in nearly 800 new members. They now join Republic Airways pilots and flight attendants who are already represented by the Teamsters Union.
The 777 newly organized AMTs are preparing to begin negotiations on a first contract that delivers industry-leading wages, strong benefits, and improved workplace protections that raise the standards at Republic Airways.
“Republic Airways AMTs are tired of being overlooked and are ready to stand together for the pay, protections, and respect they’ve earned,” said Dave Saucedo, Director of the Teamsters Airline Division. “These workers do critical, highly skilled work every single day to keep planes operating safely. By joining the Teamsters, they now have the power to hold Republic accountable and fight for a better future.”
Drivers and warehouse workers at Sysco South Florida, represented by Teamsters Local 769, have overwhelmingly ratified a strong four-year contract. The agreement delivers a 40 percent wage increase, Teamsters health care, stronger seniority protections, safeguards against automation, and double-time pay after 60 hours worked.
The victory adds to growing momentum for Sysco Teamsters nationwide. The Teamsters Union represents more than 13,000 workers at Sysco and its subsidiaries across the country. Over the past year, Sysco Teamsters in Washington, Idaho, Illinois, the Dakotas, and Montana have secured powerful contracts with major wage increases, improved benefits, and stronger workplace protections.
Long Island Rail Road trains don’t move without Teamsters locomotive engineers. 🐴💪
Rail Teamsters from the @BLET are on strike for a fair contract at Long Island Rail Road and picketing major terminals at New York Penn Station, Ronkonkoma, and Jamaica.
Minnesota Teamsters are endorsing Senator Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) in the race for governor. With more than 50,000 members and retirees across the state, Teamsters Joint Council 32 is proud to be one of the first unions to show its support for Klobuchar in this race.
“Senator Klobuchar is undoubtedly the most qualified candidate to restore Minnesotans’ confidence and trust in government,” said Tom Erickson, President of Joint Council 32 and Central Region International Vice President. “She has always fought to prioritize workers’ interests, led with integrity, and possesses the necessary experience to effectively serve Teamsters as governor.”
Teamsters General President Sean M. O’Brien addressed the monthly delegates meeting of Teamsters Joint Council 25 in Chicago today. Joined by General Secretary-Treasurer Fred Zuckerman, Joint Council 25 President Thomas W. Stiede, and International Vice President At-Large Juan Campos, O’Brien highlighted recent achievements across Illinois and northwest Indiana and discussed upcoming priorities for the union. He also met with nurses from Endeavor Health who are in the middle of a campaign to organize thousands of nurses and join Teamsters Local 743 in the Chicago area.
“In the four-plus years since General Secretary-Treasurer Fred Zuckerman and I took office, together we’ve all worked to restore the Teamsters as a fighting union. And we’ve done it in a simple way: By putting the members first in everything we do,” O’Brien said. “That’s how we’ve organized over 90,000 new members, waged more than 340 strikes, and won powerful contracts for hundreds of thousands of workers. So often, Joint Council 25 has been at the center of these fights and victories. The militancy of the Teamsters in Illinois and Indiana makes us all stronger. And it will be key to building and sustaining our momentum.”
Teamsters General President Sean M. O’Brien and General Secretary-Treasurer Fred Zuckerman spoke with Brookfield Zoo workers this afternoon about their recent strike victory. Joined by John Coli Jr., Secretary-Treasurer of Local 727, the more than 100 members of Local 727 were forced to launch a ULP strike on Monday, May 4. After two days on the picket line, they emerged victorious and ratified a strong Teamsters contract.
“Rank-and-file Teamsters across North America are fighting more and winning more than we have in generations. It’s never easy to go on strike, but you took on the fight with undefeatable militancy,” O’Brien said. “Your courage and commitment to the Teamsters Union makes all of us stronger. It’s an honor to congratulate you on this victory.”
Amazon is the most anti-worker company in America. Last year, it doubled its spending on outside union busters trying to stop the Teamsters from unionizing the multitrillion-dollar corporation. The Amazon Teamsters movement will only get bigger and stronger at facilities all over the country. Worker power will grow louder until union recognition is won and a Teamsters contract is secured for Amazon workers: https://t.co/2YP26GAQir
Nurses don’t want pizza parties from their bosses during National Nurses Week — they want strong union contracts that protect them and their patients.
The Teamsters Union represents tens of thousands of nurses and is committed to holding greedy health care systems’ feet to the fire to secure and enforce contracts that prioritize safety above all else.
“They wouldn’t be able to do anything without us.”
2,000 members of Teamsters Local 743 at the University of Chicago Medical Center escalated their fight for the contract they deserve by practice picketing over 2 days.
Despite the University of Chicago Medical Center pulling in $3 billion in profit last year, the hospital is offering pennies to the Teamsters who run it. UCMC Teamsters are prepared to do whatever it takes — including striking — to win a contract that reflects their hard work, sacrifice, and skill.
On average today, it takes 458 days to secure a first union contract. This is a problem that we can solve right now.
The Faster Labor Contracts Act establishes a reliable first contract bargaining timeframe. Teamsters and workers across the country are done waiting for corporate-backed politicians to hold Big Business accountable.

Tom Erickson, Director of the Teamsters Warehouse Division, joined Josh Graves, Warehouse Division Representative and Vice President of Teamsters Local 104, and Russell Medigovich, Local 104 business agent, to meet with hundreds of warehouse workers at Windigo Logistics in Arizona.
Windigo Logistics is a major third-party logistics (3PL) provider for Kroger. Multiple Windigo Teamsters contracts are set to expire in the coming year across Arizona and Colorado. Kroger, under CEO Greg Foran, has come under fire in a recent Teamsters lawsuit alleging the company worked with major carriers to prevent drivers at Kroger’s former 3PL Quickway from being hired by other carriers after the company shut down. The suit claims Kroger and its contractors entered into a “no-hire” agreement that illegally prevented qualified union drivers from getting jobs in an attempt to suppress wages and weaken union standards.
“Kroger is carrying out a corporate scheme to undermine Teamsters jobs across the country,” Erickson said. “Under Greg Foran — a former Walmart executive — the company is trying to rig the system, cut out experienced union workers, and drive down standards with low road nonunion carriers. The Teamsters are going to hold Kroger accountable and protect the thousands of workers we represent at this company and its third-party partners. If Kroger thinks it can create a race to the bottom, they’re in for a rude awakening.”
When a strike is averted, the news story usually ends there — but it's not the full story. 20,000 Americans at First Student and DHL just won higher wages without being forced onto a picket line. But the stability for local communities should be the win reported on every front page: https://t.co/uQMlEimZtP
Front desk workers at Park MGM, represented by Teamsters Local 986, have unanimously ratified a strong first collective bargaining agreement. The two-year Teamsters contract protects and rewards 82 workers, delivering higher wages, improved benefits, and stronger workplace protections.
Under the new Teamsters agreement, workers will receive a 10 percent wage increase, improved benefits, and an enhanced pension plan. Workers will now have access to the Teamsters Health and Welfare plan that reduces their deductibles by lowering co-pays and out-of-pocket costs.
“Organizing with Local 986 was an easy choice that led to overwhelmingly positive results,” said Andrea Mata, a front desk clerk and proud member of Local 986. “This contract allows me to provide a better future for myself and my family."
Teamsters General President Sean M. O’Brien hit the field Saturday in Denver with rank-and-file members of the Colorado Spartans — even suiting up for a play and taking part in the coin toss before kickoff. He was joined by Dean Modecker, Secretary-Treasurer of Teamsters Local 455, and Western Region International Vice President Karla Schumann.
Members of the Colorado Spartans, a National Arena League professional football team, voted to join Local 455 in August 2025 for improved health care, stronger retirement benefits, and real job protections during the offseason.
Just a few weeks ago, players and coaches secured a strong first Teamsters contract. Spartans Teamsters now also have access to offseason job opportunities with more than 65 employers, building long-term stability beyond the game.
“These talented Teamsters athletes showed what it means to stay disciplined and finish the job,” O’Brien said. “They stuck together, executed their game plan, and turned it into a strong first contract. We always fight as a team — that’s how we win.”
After 20 days on strike, Teamsters Local 429 members at Sunnyside Dispensary in Wyomissing, Pa., have secured a new contract. Sunnyside is a subsidiary of Cresco Labs, a publicly-traded multi-state cannabis operator.
The Teamsters contract includes major wage increases, improved health care benefits, guaranteed gratuities, protection from unjust discipline or termination, enhanced job security for part-time employees, and additional paid time off.
“We’ve made a real change to our workplace with this contract win,” said Cobi Motley, a wellness advisor at Sunnyside and Local 429 member. “For the first time, I feel like we are respected and our future is secure. This contract proves that standing together works.”
Today, Teamsters General President Sean M. O'Brien joined the 750 nurses at Henry Ford Genesys Hospital who have been on an unfair labor practice strike since September 1. Teamsters have remained on the picket line due to this hospital’s unwillingness to honor the years of service of striking nurses and agree to a fair and reasonable return-to-work agreement.
"For more than 200 days, Teamsters have stood strong on the line while Henry Ford Genesys management gambles with nurse and patient lives," O'Brien said. "Nurses want to go back to work so they can care for the patients and community that rely on them — but not if they have to sacrifice the years of service they've committed to their jobs. Management needs to prioritize the experience of Teamsters nurses over temporary workers and the NLRB should get off the sidelines and step in to protect these workers' statutory rights to return to their jobs."
