@Spirit_Handle@AFC_Monty_ Which part did you disagree with? We are both Arsenal fans, and I personally prefer Raya for how much calm he creates when stopping threats through movement, cross claiming/sweeping & passing.
But Raya's height hurts him in a few shot-stopping areas.
@MannyMVK@AFC_Monty_ I agree re Maradona.
My point: Maradona was so far ahead with ball manipulation. Defending in that era was very aggressive, with overcommitted tackles. Defenders these days know to sit back and use body positioning to force passes or heavier touches.
I believe he would adapt 100%
@AFC_Monty_@MannyMVK Respectfully, I HATE this type of argument.
There is some truth, but this type of argument disrespects eras for what they were.
If you copy-pasted Maradona into this era, he wouldn't be a legend.
But times change, and I believe players with Cech's or Maradona's quality can adapt.
@8394_ab@Adam_MLE@NotLikeRuss No, the NFL is full of mismatches, as it's very positional. There's nothing impressive about a 260lb linebacker running through a 190lb receiver.
Rugby doesn't allow high tackles, and generally players are tackling similar positions, so there are far fewer weight mismatches.
@InvertTheWing 23/24 you must mean. 22/23 was a fluid team, that opponents tried to match 1-1, chaos but hardly any control.
23/24 was a much more controlled and dominant fluidity in all phases.
@NOTLFCJ__ Agreed. I think one of his most undervalued traits is that he creates so much calm.
Arsenal's defence is amazing, but I think a significant amount of credit for how little shots he faces, should go to his ability to come off his line, sweep, cross claim, and pass under pressure.
@SUNNYSOCCEROOS@AlexisIsKavkas And of course, there is lots more to a football club than just players. But effectively everyone is there to do a job for the club performance its the same for all clubs. These total salaries are audited and legally have to be correct so its the far better information to rely on.
@SUNNYSOCCEROOS@AlexisIsKavkas Good points to raise, but im afraid you are incorrect. 2025 refers to 2024-25, up to June 25 before Club WC. Chelsea only had conference league. 2025-26 would have been a massive rise from 325, with CL & CWC. 2026-27 should be back to similar, tho likely slightly higher amounts.
@GamesOluwasegun@themagic_tophat@AlexisIsKavkas Firstly the figures are in Euros because its UEFA comparison. In Pounds Chelsea's is Β£325million.
-Again, its publically available, information, signed by Chelsea's directors and auditors.
Ignorance is a choice at this point, im happy to show you where to find everything.
@wambadeluozi@themagic_tophat@AlexisIsKavkas Lol you know these figures are the wages every club have to legally report themselves. Its all public data if its Chelsea you are interested in, go to Chelsea's audited statutory accounts they have signed on 'Companies house'.
@cobhams100@caughtoffside Im not referring specifically to Chelsea at all
But you are also misinformed. Every premier league team amortizes contracts, its not a Chelsea thing, its a simple accounting concept. Also the premier league capped it to 5 years, back in 2023, so all 20 teams amortize for 5 years.
@caughtoffside Im tried to work out how they got 299million for Arsenal.
I included Hincapie, I included all reported add-ons, I even included all of the youth academy signings (even next years youth signings), the max i got to was 230million, rounding up on everything.
@TheFalseNein Im tried to work out how they got 299million.
I included Hincapie, I included all reported add-ons, I even included all of the youth academy signings (even the twins who wont be signed until next year), the max i got to was 230million.
