Stating what should be obvious:
Without a large and growing electricity/energy storage infrastructure, it is impossible for nuclear plants to maintain high capacity factors once their installed capacity significantly exceeds the low points on the grid demand curves.
They might be capable of running more, but if there is insufficient demand they will have to curtail their output if they can't store it.
If you want to ONLY build large, always on nuclear plants, you are resigned to a modest market share for nuclear energy.
@simonahac@PeterDutton_MP Simon, the fuel and O&M costs in the MIT table (US$28) is AUD $44 alone. Not sure how Frontier’s variable costs include: “fuel, fixed and variable (non-fuel), operating & maintenance costs, network costs and decommissioning costs” (pg. 7 of Frontier report).
Nicks plans to close the last of his company’s coal fired generators by 2035 and its Bayswater plant by 2033. The company has no intention of waiting for nuclear. “When coal goes, if we don’t get the replacement capacity in place we don’t have a business”

100 days of 100% #WindWaterSolar
Sun, July 28, California reached a milestone. The world's 5th-largest economy met 100% of @California_ISO demand with >100% WWS for the 100th day since March 7. July 27 was day 99 (for 4.9 h)
Strong summer winds helped
High temperature industrial process heat is often described as 'hard-to-abate'.
But electrification technologies can cover very wide temperature ranges now as this graph by @FraunhoferISI shows nicely.
Looking forward to the PM’s speech tomorrow ☀️🔋: “Government needs to have this same capacity to respond and adapt, to anticipate change – and shape it – when it comes to building for the future." https://t.co/1uwYhLrVz7
'Heel raar'
Daarmee gooien we onze koploperspositie weer weg."

Want a case study in the cost-efficiency of nuclear reactors? Try this one in the UK: almost two decades to build a 3.2GW power station for the eye-popping price tag of £48 billion (~$92 billion AUD)! https://t.co/rLycjtkzEo
“And now we’re selling, the real estate agent says the secure income from renewable energy is driving my sale price up by hundreds of thousands of dollars,” says farmer Charlie Prell.
Renewables & agriculture thrive from partnership: “Our family farm wasn’t financially sustainable during the drought until we hosted wind turbines. Now the farm has substantial, bankable income locked in every year whether it rains or not… https://t.co/drKnmPTdk8
