This is legitimately the toughest tweet I’ve had to send in a while..
When I first started at The Ringer in 2020, I knew I’d found home. The space to create, the utilization of my interests and skills, the bonds, the friends, all of it was perfect.
From shows with Jemele Hill, to getting paired with Rachel, to forming a lifelong friendship with the Midnight Boys, it’s been perfect.
That’s why it really hurts to announce what I have to right now…
The Ringer is hating on Austin Reaves.
Reaves went crazy again tonight, busting ass like his name was Darius Johnson Jr, and I bet we won’t hear a peep from @BillSimmons, @ZachLowe_NBA, @RobMahoney, @jkylemann or any of my other @ringernba peeps.
If he played for the Celtics, we’d get an entire treatise about how he has the killer instinct of Whitey Bulger, the handles of Cousy, and looks like a true American from Brookline, MA.
But because he’s a Laker, he’s treated like “Sinners” on an Outkick top 20 films of 2025 list … not mentioned.
I hope in the coming year my beloved company learns to appreciate Basketball of all colors … including Purple & Gold.
Tonight Reaves scored 44. I beg of you guys to remember that man that wore 42, and what discrimination has do to a society.
Do better.
@Ralph_MasonJr That being said, we'll get a decent player with the BAE and I bet Pelinka has a consolidation trade up his sleave with Rui amd Gabe. Not to mention Beal and Smart potentially dropping out of the sky.
@Ralph_MasonJr I still feel a lot of Luka gratitude. Like, seriously, Luka is a Laker?? Him losing weight might be the most important off-season component for the Lakers.
Also, for me, getting Ayton and LaRavia for essentially "free" and still getting to keep our future first plus Dalton 🤠
Life in 1776:
- heat is such a luxury that Thomas Jefferson can’t write in deep winter bc his ink freezes (one reason perhaps why Independence Day is in July)
- nighttime darkness is such a burden that George Washington reportedly spent $15k in today’s dollars on candles every year (our first POTUS was a literal dril tweet)
- fuel is such a burden that firewood is 28 percent of US GDP (more than health care and manufacturing combined today)
You’re using it wrong.
Write a draft.
Read it over.
Then ask questions.
AI is a partner to refine your writing — not the writer.
Engagement with AI will sharpen your skills.
Substitution is sloppy thinking and sloppy writing.
