Reports of increased ICE activity near Ontario schools are causing fear in our communities. Families are notifying the school district that they plan to pull their children out of class for the rest of the year because they are afraid.

No parent should have to worry about their child’s safety when sending them to school. Every child deserves an education, and no family should have to choose between their child’s future and their family’s safety.

ICE’s actions are creating fear that is keeping children out of the classroom. That is not public safety. Parents should not have to choose between protecting their families and making sure their children get an education. Our children deserve better, and I will keep demanding accountability for the harm these enforcement tactics are causing in our communities.

I look back in my lifetime to see current events and often wondered... what will the unintended or even natural downstream effects of these deals and policies be.

It just always leads to war... death.... and someone with their eye on the spoils, regardless of the cost.
