Today, the body of Syrian activist Mazen al-Hamada was found. He was tortured in 2012 before his release and departure from Syria. Mazen disappeared in 2020 after being coerced by the Syrian regime’s embassy in Berlin to return to Syria.

Over and over Mazen Alhummada told his painful story of the worst torture and how countless Syrians were still in Assad’s dungeons. The biggest news outlets, Congress, documentaries. The world knew. The complete inaction to help Syria broke him so he went to Damascus himself.

Four year ago on this day, our dear friend Mazen Al-Hamda was re-arrested by the Assad regime forces at Damascus International airport.

For the past four years, Mazen’s friends and family have been deprived of any information about his whereabouts and conditions.
