My Dad was telling my sister and I stories surrounding his early adulthood.

He said there was this beautiful lady who was his client.

They became chatty after a while.

He didn’t like her romantically.

And he never thought she liked him either.

It was just business + little friendly gist once in a while.

He met my mum after a while and concluded in his heart that he was going to marry her.

Not knowing that, this his client had a huge “crush” on him.

Fast forward to when things got official for my mum and Dad.

And they were to get married.

My Dad gave this his client lady, his wedding invitation card. Inviting her for his wedding.

The lady almost ran mad.

It was then my Dad found out that, she had forfeited a sponsored scholarship / work trip abroad, because she wanted to be close to him.

To possibly see if they could get along and maybe end up together.

And the organization she worked with had served her a sack letter after that.

Because she needed to go on that trip and she didn’t.

This is a lady that was doing so well financially.

And had her life figured out.

Just because my Dad gifted her once during one of his trips, and assisted her in fixing her car…

She felt my Dad liked her.

Then she started bringing food for my Dad.

He saw it as a friendly gesture. But, politely rejected the food.

Because, he’s very particular about where he eats from.

He said that was when he learnt that, you don’t just randomly do stuff for women.

And if you do, you have to be clear enough about your relationship with them.

My Dad learnt the hard way.

Because, the lady did not give up easily.
