Honoured to be invited to celebrate my @NIAS999 20 year long service and good conduct record with colleagues last night. Pictured with just a few of my ex West Division female friends and colleagues.

Storytelling is an essential leadership skill. Stories help us make connections, build meaningful relationships with others & retain information. We're 7x more likely to remember a fact when it's wrapped in a story. As leaders we should build skills in telling five kinds of stories:
1) Vision stories which inspire a shared one.
2) Values stories that model the way.
3) Action stories that spark change & progress.
4) Teaching stories that transmit knowledge & skills to others
5) Trust stories that help people understand, connect with & believe in us.

I know Ozempic & other semaglutide injections are all the rage right now, but you need to know it can bring serious health consequences in the long term.
For both weight loss & Type 2 Diabetes, the root cause is actually made worse long-term with Ozempic.
I'll explain.

I had a conversation today about the difference between "kindness" & "niceness" in leadership so I decided to post about it. The article & graphic explain why, as leaders, we should choose kindness over niceness. Kindness is about caring enough to push people toward greatness, even when it’s uncomfortable. It’s a harder path but better in the long run:

How do we influence others? Recent research shows that the approach most commonly used by leaders is "selling" - getting others to agree by showing them your idea is the best/most beneficial. However, influencing by "selling" produces suboptimal compromises. Leaders who adopt a more collaborative influence approach (enlisting the support/cooperation of others, without relying on formal authority, to achieve individual or common goals, especially in the face of conflicting priorities/perspectives) get better outcomes from decisions.

@HealthRegLawyer Love this Andrea, like an old romantic tale. It's OK to let the guard down sometimes. Sometimes we just need to allow ourselves to be vulnerable x
All the way from Clare Island to Maynooth, Community Paramedics William and Oisín presented at the PHECC Research Conference this week.
Their study explored the deployment of Community Paramedics to rural islands off the coast of Ireland.
Amazing work, well done👏
My husband talking at @Carfestevent earlier this year about how my perimenopausal symptoms were affecting him and our family.
I met Paul when I was 18 in our first week at medical school and he is the most important person in my life. However, the uncontrollable rage I had when I was perimenopausal affected him to the extent he thought about leaving me.
Thankfully he didn’t but many people’s relationships do break down which is so sad. Access to evidence based treatment in the form of hormones should improve as currently globally only 5% of perimenopausal and menopausal women are prescribed HRT and even less are prescribed testosterone.
Taking the right dose and type of hormones can improve mood, reduce irritability and increase happiness.
