Excited to say that I’ve launched a new charity: Spiro - focused on Tuberculosis screening and prevention for children

USAID officials called Trump's directives a "shock and awe" approach that has left officials unsure how to apply for exemptions for life-saving aid programs. "They even removed all the pictures in our offices of aid programs," per one official

But I really like the pledge as a firm commitment and clear standard. It acted as a guiding light throughout my various jobs of the last decade.
I hope my donations have done good in the world and I hope my future donations will do more.
And I am better for having pledged!
Personally, my pledge expresses 2 things I'm striving towards:
1) Helping others - charities can provide lifesaving help to those around the world
2) Frugality - recognising my privileged position, trying not to take more than my fair share
My relationship to giving is not uncomplicated.
I find money stressful! I don't think I live a super frugal life. Sometimes I'm more stressed or guilty than joyous worrying about pledge amounts or whether my choices were actually good...
Happy 15th Birthday to @givingwhatwecan!
I took a pledge back in 2011 at University and it's one of the things I'm proudest of.
Since then I've moved jobs, cities and even changed my name. I've kept effective giving a part of my life and now I'm even on GWWC's UK board!
My 10% Pledge with @givingwhatwecan is one of the things I'm proudest of in my life.
Since 2021, I've donated over $30k - most of which has gone to help improve the lives of people in low incomes countries.
GWWC and the 10% Pledge are celebrating 15 years of giving this week!
To commemorate this milestone, we invite all our pledgers to share stories about your pledge experience: favourite memories, what the pledge means to you, or even your hopes for the future. Tag us!
💪 Today we rallied outside Scotland’s Court of Session in Edinburgh to mark the first day of our legal challenge against the disastrous approval of the Rosebank oil field.
The new @WHO report on #tuberculosis (TB) shows:
- 8.2 million people were newly diagnosed with TB in 2023 – the highest number recorded since 1995;
- TB-related deaths declined for a second consecutive year, as access to services continues to improve;
- multidrug-resistant TB remains a serious challenge.
The fact that TB still kills and sickens so many people is an outrage, when we have the tools to prevent, detect, treat, and #EndTB.
44 medical students from Gaza arrived in Pakistan to continue their 4th year studies at Rawalpindi Medical College. They will be given housing and Arabic translators and will be able to do house jobs in PK after their studies. Make this go viral please! @johncusack@ReallyMarcia
King Charles & Prince William’s estates avoid tax, charge the NHS £11.4M for ambulance storage & force tenants to live with damp, mould & fuel poverty.
The monarchy clearly lives in another world.
How much longer will we allow such privileges?
It’s time to rethink the system.
NEW: ‘A Cartography of Genocide’. Since October 2023, we have collected and analysed data related to Israel’s military campaign in Gaza. Our findings indicate that Israel has systematically targeted all aspects of civilian life. https://t.co/UUxYqpTF72
