A clueless, running-on-empty caricature of provincial conservatism and clearly a stupid attempt to signal to the base that something is being done on the economic policy front when in fact nothing is being done.
The continuing rapid descent of Germany into fascism (again), with its enthusiastic support for genocide (again), its violent repression of human rights defenders (again), and its embrace of officialized racism (again), should be an alarm bell to German citizens and the international community alike. Germany has not learned from history. The rest of us must.

A NYT article on sexual abuse against Palestinians -accurate but barely scratching the surface- is triggering hysteria in the Israeli govt not bcs of the facts, but bcs of the audience.
Apartheid Israel fears NYT readers will finally see and no longer ignore.
From extraction to sovereignty 🌍✊
In #SantaMarta, Global South movements are defining a real transition away from fossil fuels — not as rhetoric, but as a political struggle for justice, sovereignty, and peace.

✊ En Santa Marta salimos a las calles por un futuro libre de combustibles fósiles.
Fuimos parte de la marcha junto a organizaciones, comunidades y movimientos que exigen el fin de la era fósil y una transición energética que ponga la vida en el centro.

We are in Santa Marta at the Debt and Climate Working Group's event on how the debt crisis in the Global South fuels economic dependence on fossils and vice versa, and how debt workout can become a crucial lever for unlocking a Just Energy Transition. @deudaxclima Follow along:
At the Santa Marta #JustTransition conference, the Debt & Climate WG is hosting a press conference with @CaroMejiaSilva@Mariana_Paoli@ecuarauz@DeudaxClima - calling for an economy of care, life, sufficiency and sovereignty over the vicious cycle of debt, dependency & fossils
#SantaMarta highlights that without systemic reform of global economic dependencies, rules, power and accountability, #GlobalSouth countries remain trapped in fossil fuel-debt cycles—keeping a truly #JustTransition out of reach.
🗣️ @FriederikeStrub
The #SantaMarta conference on transitioning from fossil fuels has already named #Debt as a key obstacle to the transition.
But what are the solutions?
A #UNDebtConvention could transform the global debt system and unlock climate action!

It's actually enraging how the World Bank can suddenly change its mind about industrial policy like "Oops, for the past 45 years we systematically prevented you from using the most obvious tool for sovereign development, keeping you stuck in poverty and dependency, lol".
The release of the Epstein files feels less like transparency and more like a psychological operation. It overwhelms the most empathetic and intellectually engaged people with outrage and despair, while numbing everyone else into apathy and boredom.

A migrant worker dies many times, and has many killers: they die in their home countries, where they are structurally, violently uprooted — they then die on the clearly abusive journeys to the Middle East, and then, they finally die at their workstation at the final destination.
Despite its rhetoric, the #EU is undermining multilateral processes aiming to democratise & improve global economic governance. This hypocrisy was evident last week when it again opposed a @UN intergovernmental process on #debt architecture. Read our OpEd: https://t.co/yOSFgqfnjB
Looking forward to presenting @UNCTAD’s Trade and Development Report 2025 with Prof. Mariana Mazzucato (@MazzucatoM) of @IIPP_UCL.
We will debate the financialization of global trade and how to better support developing countries.

The COP30 outcome gives a glimpse of progress towards a just transition, but leaves huge questions about finance provision.
Undemocratic, unaccountable financial institutions remain at the centre, with urgent need for reform.
Reflections from @FriederikeStrub 🧵 #COP30
The latest draft text from the #COP30 presidency excludes a roadmap for phasing out fossil fuels, the PRIMARY driver of the climate crisis. The Global North countries driving the most fossil fuel expansion are pointing the finger at anyone but themselves. @aygoswami says:
#COP30 ends 3yrs of talks to align financial flows with climate goals (Article 2.1c). But the world's💰is still going to fossil fuels. Will COP30 be the turning point?
