We are always greatful for the volunteers that attend our clean-ups, but clean-ups are not the solution. Enforcement and policy are needed to deter improper waste disposal so kids in this community can play in parks without piles of broken beer bottles and loose trash.
This year our clean-ups have helped remove 600+ lbs of trash from #FranzSigelPark alone. But this is with 39 volunteers over 5 events. Only 2 Park's staff are responsible for the entire 16 acres of this park on a daily basis. The same situation can be seen for the other 4 parks
Looks better without loose trash. Community members that live on the Concourse voiced their frustrations to us. One resident said they try to tell these party groups to dispose of their waste properly, but once the groups are drinking the situation gets "dangerous"
