I hate the idea of keeping garbage people alive on the public dime, but I hate giving government the power to execute people.
I don't trust the government to do the right thing in most cases, and terminating a life, even one as irredeemable as this woman's, is not something I want in the hands of faceless unaccountable bureaucrats.
@gatorgar But WHO should do it? Who should "pull the trigger," so to speak? Who should be paid to kill people, even scumbags who may well deserve it? And is it better if it eats away at the executioner's soul, or if they enjoy their work?
They will exhume a dead man and drag his lifeless, decomposing body through the digital streets of X to exploit him for your vote.
The dark desperation of statists is unmatched.
A black fungus feeds on radiation in Chernobyl.
In the radioactive ruins of Chernobyl’s Reactor 4, scientists found an extraordinary black fungus, Cladosporium sphaerospermum, thriving in one of Earth’s most toxic environments.
Rather than merely enduring radiation, this fungus seems to harness it through radiosynthesis—a process akin to photosynthesis but driven by gamma radiation, converting it into chemical energy. It’s among the rare organisms capable of this feat.
Even more remarkable, when tested on the International Space Station, the fungus flourished, forming a biofilm that blocked up to 84% of cosmic radiation, hinting at its potential as a living radiation shield for astronauts. With radiation posing a major hurdle for deep-space missions to Mars and beyond, this self-regenerating biological layer could revolutionize spacecraft design by replacing heavy, bulky shielding.
On Earth, researchers are exploring its use in bioremediation to detoxify radioactive sites too hazardous for humans, potentially transforming nuclear disaster recovery. As one scientist put it, “It’s like nature crafted a biological radiation shield.” From Chernobyl’s ruins to space, this humble fungus could help humanity thrive in the universe’s harshest environments.
Republicans: We believe in SMALL GOVERNMENT
Their Boomer voters: Good evening. As Governor, how will you use the power of the state to ensure I win a personal argument with my adult daughter?
@coppercomets I bet it was an important job interview or something too which her "plans" interfered with. And not the first time she flaked, either. Just my speculation from experience with boomers.
@TonyForLP Exactly. What does it do to a person who clocks into their job to kill a stranger? What's the salary for that? What does it do to us to get excited about it? Can't someone "deserve to die" but it still be wrong for any of us to dirty our hands doing it?
At Christmastime, 1913, Woodrow Wilson signed the Federal Reserve Act, handing the power to create money to a private central banking cartel. A foreign Banker named Paul Warburg drafted the plan in secret on Jekyll Island in 1910 before he even became an American citizen.
Under the Federal Reserve Act, Americans would now borrow their own currency at interest. Inflation then quietly ate away at wages, and over a century later, the dollar has lost 97% of its purchasing power.
End the Fed.
