Having left the Danish foreign, it is time to replace my profile photo. The one chosen was taken during my speech at my farewell reception. I dedicated my farewell words to Nilson Mandela who I had the pleasure of accompanying in my red jacket when he visited Copenhagen in 1994.
Sorry be so cynical, but suprised to see some people I REALLY respect claimed victory over an announcement that we need to phase-out fossil fuels, in the energy sector, after 30 years of climate negotiations. How else were we thinking to get there? And when? CoP 56?
@COP28_UAE Work on loss and damage by the WIM Executive Committee now been carried out for 10 years. Happy that COP28UAE presidency will help commentate.
Poorest people suffer the most from climate changes even though they are the least cause of them. That is unfair. Happy about 🇩🇰 political agreement to provide 100 million DKK to climate adaptation and loss & damage in the poorest countries https://t.co/3r2KhevPmR
Welcome decision at COP26 to advance agenda on loss and damage. Important issue that I also addressed in my plenary speech at COP26. Happy to announce Denmark is planning to provide funding for technical assistance under the Santiago Network. #greentogether#dkaid
Climate change is the defining challenge of our time. 🇩🇰 is dedicating at least 60% of our grant-based climate finance to #adaptation. Raising adaptation contribution to at least USD 300 mill. annually from 2023. Also need to address climate induced loss and damage #COP26#dkaid
Great push today by Ireland, the Netherlands, Denmark, Sweden, the UK and Finland to increase adaptation finance for least developed countries and small island developing states, via @IIED https://t.co/czxWrqLgdp
I welcome Denmark’s announcement that it will allocate 60% of climate financial aid to climate adaptation measures in its national budget proposal.
This is a powerful example of #ClimateAction leadership for other donor countries & multilateral development banks to follow.
Denmark, Guinea and DanChurchAid wishing to stimulate debate on how to avert, minimise and address climate induced loss and damage. Important to scale up and speed up action.
🌍 💪 💚 🇬🇧
