@TheLondonHughes When I was a teenager we'd eat here and then go bowling over the road for almost every birthday party. They'd always serve you drinks and never check ID. Very expensive way to get drunk though ๐
1 in 5 parents are worried they won't be able to afford a present for their children this Christmas. Will you help send 17,000 festive book parcels to children who need them most?

At my show in Frome
I stepped to the front of the stage.
For half a second
I thought I'd leap
into the mosh pit
calling out 'Chocolate Cake - mmmmm'
but then I noticed
everyone was in seats
and the front row
was mums, dads and children
so I decided
it wouldn't be sensible.
@MichaelRosenYes @CBaileyImage @cheeseandgrain@gm3events He's James and now my 7 year old, William, will be furious I didn't mention him. They were having a discussion about the potato age and if it really existed when they were supposed to be going to sleep tonight, he'll probably be trying to add it to the timeline in September.
@CBaileyImage @MichaelRosenYes@cheeseandgrain@gm3events In the car this evening my 4 year old asked if I remembered when Michael Rosen called himself Michael Raisin. I told him I did and he declared it was his favourite bit and Michael Raisin was funny.
@HelenGrayIBCLC@WEP_UK Totally agree. Parents should be able to choose to stay home and look after their own children or be able to afford to work part time. Free childcare as it is now is closing nurseries and reducing access to childcare.
@ChipsLasagne@CazBlue2 The falsity of the 'grammar' being taught is that its sole source of reference is itself: it's an abstract set of rules based on segmenting and re-segmenting language in tiny units. The meaning of bread is not in how it's sliced.
Over 100,000 on the streets saying #EnoughIsEnough ๐

More than half of maternity units in England fail consistently to meet safety standards, according to BBC analysis. @BirteLam of the Royal College of Midwives joins @emmabarnett - listen from 10am on @bbcsounds
@benhoarewild@fromelitfest@HuntingRavenBks Sorry William ran away and we had to leave suddenly! He made a nature picture of leaves from the garden when we got back though.
@LibbyPageWrites That's lovely to hear! It is gaining some momentum which is great and hopefully gives families a way to feed back how they feel about the closures.
Much discussion tonight in my NCT group WhatsApp chat about how more local women are turning to free birthing because all our local birth centres are temporarily closed due to understaffing. It's pretty terrifying.
@LibbyPageWrites Also for those interested in statistics it seems that babies recorded as born before arrival are only cases where a midwife was requested and was unable to come out. If parents didn't try calling then that free birth was not recorded so true numbers not visible in stats.
@NoSchoolSexism I did Inspector Calls and Romeo and Juliet 20 years ago. I had so hoped they would change these texts! The teachers probably did them for their own GCSEs too so you'd think they might try to add some variety and something more contemporary.
