This is the kind of generic, tone-deaf statement we’ve come to expect from the Indiana Fever management and coaching staff. Saying “player safety is paramount” is easy. Standing up for your franchise player when she’s repeatedly on the receiving end of dangerous contact is what actually matters.
This isn’t leadership. It’s PR. Fans wanted a clear defense of Caitlin Clark and a demand for accountability from the WNBA, its officials, and the players involved. Instead, they got another statement that says a lot without saying much.
