I'm a solo Ethereum staker.
Recently withdrew rewards and have enough for 2 new solo validators OR 8 Rocket Pool validators.
I've tried Googling but can't find a good tokenomic breakdown but is Rocket Pool worth it from a game theory perspective or should I stick to solo?
Unfortunately, there was a slashing that occurred during the Ethereum Merge, validator 404680

Seems to be run by @Allnodes . Very sad to see :(
@bacon_soles@abcdef1337@Allnodes No, there's a small penalty if you're offline (imagine if every 6 minutes you're rewarded with $0.05 worth of Ethereum. If you're offline, then every 6 minutes they subtract $0.05 from you instead.)
@lewtzcrypto@Skretch12 @ray_v101 @Allnodes No more rewards, they'll just sit at ~31 Eth til withdrawals. Once that's enabled they could restake and try again
@Diaboli_Advocat @koeppelmann But those 22 node operators, if they were instructed by Lido to enact a change, would have to listen right? The stake isn't theirs after all (I'm not sure exactly how it works but I assume they manage the servers and get a small cut?)
@cmdr_moto @hoffmang@Allnodes 1 validator = 32 Eth
Sort of. Because it broke the rules, the PoS consensus slashed them.
That validator can no longer make money and will be penalized until there's only 31 Eth left.
@bill_mcgonigle@Allnodes Correct, all we've seen up til now have mostly been people accidentally doing something malicious. Allnodes gave an update too:

@FsjalDoesCrypto Our investigation showed that the slashed customer launched the same validator somewhere else, causing a double sign violation. The node in question was migrated to Allnodes not long ago. We assume the owner decided to migrate back without shutting down the node on Allnodes.
@nicolasdeluz@Riles178@IamNomad@Allnodes Yes but I should add a network issue wouldn't ever cause a slash either! It may cause a missed attestation at the least (-0.00000168 Eth) but that'd quickly be offset the next attestation, when they gain +0.00002358 Eth
@LaVolpe78775871@MFaiqKhan3 @Long_Shorter @IamNomad@Allnodes If it's any consolation, 1 Eth penalty is taken from that 32. If someone had 16 Eth in that validator, they've lost 0.5 Eth. If someone had 4 Eth in it, then they've lost 0.125 Eth. Easier to stomach, but you're right, it sucks that <32 Eth has to rely on someone else
@LaVolpe78775871 @Pino52973109 @MFaiqKhan3 @Long_Shorter @IamNomad@Allnodes So I can't speak for Allnodes, but for platforms like @Rocket_Pool, if a slashing occurs, the loss is socialized across everybody to make it hurt less.
The name "staking" really isn't joking, you're playing at "high stakes" and are expected to do a job to spec or suffer a loss.
