Good Read - The Gazelle’s Grace: #Eritrea’s Timeless Beauty; by Kidane Shimendi
If the Camel is emblematic of Eritrea's resilience; the Gazelle is symbolic of Eritrea's social cohesion, grace and beauty!
*"...Eritrea’s boundless beauty is forged by the ethos of 'Unity in Diversity', a principle that harmonizes the profound solidarity of nine distinct ethnic groups with the nation’s stunning natural landscapes. This fusion creates a timeless aesthetic where cultural heritage and the natural world are deeply intertwined. Among the many elements drawing local and international tourists to Eritrea’s rich cultural canvas, few are as captivating as the symbolic relationship between the gazelle and Eritrean traditions. This connection is most vividly expressed in the traditional choreography of the country’s nine ethnic groups".
*"...In conclusion, Eritrea’s boundless beauty is anchored in its 'Unity in Diversity', which bridges rich cultural expressions and the wonders of the natural world. Watching the nine ethnic groups express love, grace, and resilience through movements that mirror the agile gazelle reveals a profound, historical bond between the Eritrean people and their environment. This relationship goes far beyond dance; it is woven into the very fabric of national identity and shapes how the people see themselves. To experience the cultural rhythms of Eritrea is to travel through a timeless landscape where life, nature, and community are celebrated in their truest, most beautiful forms".

The Eritrean flag spotted in Houston during the Brazil vs Japan match, a beautiful reminder that no matter where we are — from the Horn of Africa to the heart of Texas, we carry our identity, culture, and unbreakable spirit with us.
United in love for the game and rooted in our heritage.
Eritrea is everywhere!

Good Read - The Mesob: Testament to the Artistry, Unity, and Grace of Eritrean Women; by Kidane Shimendi
*"...the Mesob anchors the time-honored cultural practice of communal dining; a tradition through which generations of Eritreans have fostered mutual respect, deep affection, and unbreakable social bonds. This practice of eating together from a single, shared platter is vibrant and alive across all nine of Eritrea’s ethnic groups, each possessing its own beautiful term for this focal point of hospitality: Tigrinya: Meadi (መኣዲ), Tigre: Metaagal, Saho: Maddi, Bilen: Meddira or Gbar, Kunama: Gonta or Nada Gonta, Nara: Gaan, Bidawyet (Hadendowa): Tooda, Afar: Galadda, Rashaida (Arabic): Maida".
*"...The Mesob is far more than a woven basket; it is a monument to the spirit of Eritrea. Through its captivating geometry, its rich national colors, and the nourishing meals served from its crown, it reflects the generosity, intellect, and love of the women who craft it. It is a magnificent testament to a national heritage engraved with beauty. Let us all honor, celebrate, and preserve the brilliant artistic legacy of Eritrea’s women".

Activity Assessment Meeting of National Organizations in Italy
National organizations in Italy have conducted a virtual activity assessment meeting for the first half of 2026.
The meeting was attended by Mr. Fesehatsion Petros, #Eritrea’s Ambassador to Italy and non-resident Ambassador to Scandinavian countries, Mr. Teklesenbet Imam, Eritrea’s Consul General, and Mr. Ghirmay Habtemicael, head of Public and Community Affairs, as well as about 80 heads of PFDJ, the National Union of Eritrean Women, YPFDJ, Eritrean communities, and media and diplomacy committees. The meeting reviewed activities implemented over the past half year and adopted various recommendations and resolutions.
Ambassador Petros gave an extensive briefing on the objective situation in the homeland as well as regional and global developments. Noting that Eritrea, while ensuring its sovereignty, is making its modest contribution to realizing peace and cooperation in the region, he called for reinforced participation of national organizations.
In the same vein, a seminar on administration and leadership was provided to over 100 heads of national organizations from all cantons in Switzerland in the city of Bern. The seminar, focusing on the “Political Ideology of PFDJ,” was organized in collaboration with the Eritrean Embassy and the Eritrean professionals’ association in Switzerland.
Mr. Habtom Zeray, Chargé d’Affaires at the Eritrean Embassy in Switzerland and Eritrea’s Permanent Representative to the UN and other international organizations in Geneva, noted the significance of heads of national organizations equipping themselves with knowledge, enhancing their political awareness, and transferring the knowledge they gained from the seminar to their respective organizations.
Mr. Isaias Hadgu, chairman of the Eritrean professionals’ association in Switzerland, underlined the importance of the seminar in enabling national organizations to identify their strengths and challenges and become more effective in their activities.
Likewise, nationals residing in the Swiss cities of Lugano and Thurgau conducted public diplomacy activities aimed at acquainting others with the culture and traditions of Eritrean society.
The Eritrean community in Qatar also conducted an assessment meeting on programs presented at the 35th Independence Day anniversary celebration. The activity assessment meeting was attended by Mr. Ali Ibrahim, Eritrea’s Ambassador to Qatar.
