My sincere thanks to the @WFP_UNHAS pilots whose professionalism and dedication help ensure that those on the front lines can safely reach affected communities.
Your work is vital to the #Ebola response and to delivering assistance where it is needed most.
In Nyankunde Health Zone, Ituri Province, #DRC, @WHO is actively involved in the #Ebola response, working alongside the Government and partners to strengthen infection prevention and control measures, community engagement and response coordination to help stop transmission and protect communities.
Listening to and learning from our frontline @WHO staff in Bunia, Ituri, was truly rewarding. Together with partners, under the leadership of the DRC government, our shared mission is to save lives and bring this #Ebola outbreak to an end.
The recovery and discharge of five patients, all Congolese health workers who contracted Ebola while serving their communities, is deeply encouraging.
The message is simple: Ebola can be survived. Seek care early.
Building trust with communities, protecting frontline health workers, and ensuring rapid testing and diagnosis are vital to accelerating the #Ebola response.
On the ground with our partners, we’re supporting the government to reinforce all key response measures. With collective and sustained action, we will defeat Ebola.
Early detection remains one of the most effective tools for stopping #Ebola.
@WHO has deployed 15 epidemiologists, trained 100 frontline health workers on disease surveillance and alert management, and distributed 20,000 surveillance tools to strengthen case detection and contact tracing in affected areas of #DRC.
Additional laboratory supplies are also supporting faster testing and diagnosis.
.@WHO has delivered additional medical supplies to support the #Ebola response in the DRC, which have now arrived in Bunia, Ituri.
I thank the Government for facilitating their delivery and reaffirm @WHO's commitment to supporting efforts to bring this outbreak to an end.
Today, four nurses were discharged from a hospital in Bunia following recovery from #Ebola. Together with a laboratory worker discharged earlier this week, five people have now recovered during this outbreak.
Their recovery sends a clear message of hope: Ebola can be survived with good medical care, and seeking care early makes a real difference.

Goodbye Ituri
As I leave Ituri today, I want to express my sincere gratitude to all our partners, including international organizations, NGOs, faith-based organizations and civil society groups, for your commitment, partnership and courage.
Behind every response effort is a life we are trying to save, a family we are trying to protect, and a community that needs hope. The recoveries we are seeing remind us that Ebola can be defeated when people come early and receive care.
Working under the leadership of the DRC Government, united as one team, we must continue to act with urgency, compassion and discipline.
Let us carry hope back to the communities, protect our frontline workers, and move faster to detect every case.
Together, we will stop Ebola.
The people of Ituri are counting on us.

Pamoja, tutaishinda Ebola.
Wananchi wa Ituri wanatutegemea.
Today in Bunia, I joined @DrTedros and @Chikwe_I to deliberate with Lt. General Johnny Luboya Nkashama, Governor of Ituri Province, and to listen, learn and coordinate support for the ongoing #Ebola response.
@WHO remains committed to working closely with national authorities and partners to end this outbreak swiftly.
I had the opportunity to meet with Lieutenant-General Johnny Luboya Nkashama, the Governor of Ituri, which is currently the province in the #DRC reporting the highest number of cases in the ongoing #Ebola outbreak caused by the Bundibugyo virus.
I want to express my appreciation for his strong leadership during this complex crisis, which is further complicated by internal conflict and significant population displacement.
During our discussions, we agreed that a key priority for responding to the outbreak is to enhance the coordination among all health and humanitarian actors, ensuring their operations align with the government’s overall leadership in managing this response.
I emphasized to @WHO and our partners in Ituri the importance of actively listening to and supporting the community. The local population is best equipped to articulate their needs and to identify effective solutions for containing the outbreak.
Grateful to the Government of the #DRC — with the Ministers of Health, Communication and Defence leading on the ground. 🇨🇩
👏Bravo to the national team in Rwampara: a 32-year-old laboratory staff member who contracted Ebola has been successfully treated and discharged.
Yesterday, @WHO delivered more than 2,000 RadiOne test kits to strengthen diagnostic capacity and support faster case detection.
Together, we move forward.
Joined our @WHO team on the ground in #Bunia today with my brother @Chikwe_I, as we continue to scale up #Ebola outbreak response.
Proud of the work of our advance team in laying the foundation for the response. With our partners and in support of the government, we’re rapidly expanding critical measures to help contain the virus and protect affected communities.
Together, we will defeat Ebola.
Reliable access to safe water is critical for a safe and effective #Ebola response.
On the ground in Bunia 🇨🇩, @WHO teams are putting in place a potable water supply system at the Ebola treatment centre to strengthen infection prevention and control. This infrastructure will continue to serve communities beyond the current outbreak response.
We are working tirelessly alongside national authorities and partners to protect communities and end this outbreak.
