I might be reading into it too much, but i think it's kind of emblematic of how bad the current state of Halo's story is when the majority of Halo fanfiction I see explicitly labels itself as an AU and ignores 343 content because they see the current setting as unsalvageable

Master Chief's MJOLNIR Mk. IV from Halo Silent Storm, I used the book cover's design and modified it with the Mk. IV's depiction from Halo Legends. Though, Mk. V [B]'s profile, was undeniably the initial basis - recognizable, under equipment imo.

Retcon everything (chronologically) after Halo 3. Chief is still asleep on the Dawn.
Have the rest of the series be a bunch of smaller scale stories about how the galaxy is adapting to a world where we are no longer at war (but also aren’t exactly at peace) with the aliens instead of just rebooting the war for no reason.
Hell, imagine a story about the everyday person having to put up with alien refugees living amongst them after years of them massacring their friends & families…. 343 could actually explore some mature & morally grey subject matter that people keep pretending they did in Halo 4

This is a good example of the artist not understanding the basic concept of reduced three dimensional depth and parallax caused by scale and viewing distance

For example:
Standing on a city street, nearby and distant buildings shift dramatically relative to each other as you move your head, creating strong depth

Looking at the same city from 30,000 feet, everything is so far away that those relative shifts are minimal, so the city appears more like a flat map

This is why the original design of the halo ring with the flat 2D texture looks so much more gargantuan and awe inspiring compared to this new “Artstation-slop” design
