The image shows the synthesis of nickelates under extreme pressure in a Walker module. The obtained perovskite crystals can be topotactically transformed to the infinite-layer phase!

We find that the reduction process is laterally homogeneous across a partially reduced PrNiO2+δ thin film sample for length scales down to 50 nm.
Thanks a lot to all coauthors from @mpifkf , @MPI_IS , and @HZBde 🤩
Probably my last first-author paper from @mpifkf 🙂🙃😟
We study the lateral homogeneity in topotacticlly reduced infinite-layer nickelates using x-ray absorption spectroscopy ⭐️with lateral resolution from the submillimeter to submicrometer range.
We use XAS in a standard experimental setup and in a soft x-ray microscope 🔬(both available at @HZB_BESSY) to probe the element and spatially resolved electronic structure modifications through changes of the Ni-2p O-1s absorption spectrum upon soft-chemistry reduction.
What do a group of postdocs think is the future for rare earth nickelates and metal-insulator transitions as a whole? We discuss some interesting directions at the intersection of materials science and artificial intelligence in this perspective article.
We successfully grew and characterized doped infinite layer nickelate crystals 💥— so far only available as thin films or powders! Our crystals show metallic behavior in transport measurements, which were quite challenging but realized by the super skilled @mohammadp1001.
Glad to see a part of my PostDoc work at @mpifkf published 😊.
This work was (amongst others) coauthored by the incredibly taleded @YESuyolcu and excellently supervised by @MatthiasHepting!
Very happy to share my first paper as senior author, published in @ScienceAdvances . Topotactic transformation of nickelate crystals, achieved by our team from @mpifkf ,@CornellMSE , including @Fuersich_Katrin , @YESuyolcu https://t.co/SWBmPcWXhA
Last Friday was my last day at @mpifkf — the place where I scientifically grew up 👩🏻🔬
I am truly grateful for five wonderful years with amazing colleagues and a great infrastructure!
And now it’s time for some adventures 🏕🚲🌄
We present an alternative approach 💡 to dope infinite-layer nickelates ⭐️ via topotactic reduction of artificial superlattices 🍔
➡️@PhysRevB: https://t.co/9Yi2nHG0PD
Usually, infinite-layer nickelates are chemically doped e. g. with Sr. However, it's quite challenging to stabilize this phase. We synthesized artificial layered structures (c.f. 🍔), where hole doping is achieved via interfacial oxygen atoms and tuned via the layer thickness.
Congratultions to Johanna for the Margarete von Wrangell Grant! "Have courage!" is Johanna's appeal to all young women. In this interview, she talks about her support, her research and the opportunities for young female scientists.

It is a privilege to announce a mini lecture series that I will be teaching in the Pauli Center for Theoretical Physics, September 27 - October 1 @ETH_physics@UZH_en@psich_en
💡 Our YVO3 - LaAlO3 superlattices show an artificial, layered orbital polarization, where the average orbital occupation in the interface layers is inverted compared to the central part of the YVO3 slab. For more details see ➡️ https://t.co/3011VHdF1r
We used resonant x-ray reflectometry 🪞💫 to study orbital engineering in YVO3. This is the PhD work from my friend and colleague Padma Radhakrishnan from @mpifkf 👩💻.
The experiment was performed at @HZB_BESSY with the help of @MPI_IS.
