Mental health issues are probably the biggest contributors to extreme weight gain and extreme weight-loss. If a person doesn’t heal from the mental challenges they face, their weight loss/weight gain efforts will always be temporary.
We need to have a roundtable discussion about eating disorders and our relationship with food as black people. Do our cultures as black people believe in or even acknowledge eating disorders?
