I have 3 distinct fruit fly colonies in my apartment right now. The red-eyed kitchen colony, the black-eyed front hall colony, and the assholes who won’t die colony in my study. 😆
@LaLashaMurphy I lived my childhood in men's jeans and t-shirts and never took my jacket off because I looked like an overstuffed sausage. It was terrible. Thankfully my Grandma made my prom dress, so that was pretty fashionable and fit me perfectly.
It's been an interesting two weeks. ☹ First my cousin dies. Then my dog dies exactly a week later. And now, exactly another week later and my aunt (mother of cousin) dies. Ugh.
@PhDVoice Yes, but not because I had an exam or anything to study for. I just happened to be working on my project and next thing I knew my morning alarm was going off. 🙃
@Literature_Lady The weavers guild I belong to always has the most amazing scarves at our annual sale. You might have a nearby guild with members who sell their handweaving, too.
My cousin died early this morning. So I have dubbed today "Check-in on your grad students' mental health" day. Please take a moment to check in and make sure they know the campus resources where they can get help if needed.
My alcoholic 29 year old cousin has officially been placed in hospice care after multiple-organ failure. We don't expect her to last the weekend.
We've pleaded with her for a decade to get help and that we'd help and support her, but she didn’t think she had a problem. ☹😢😞
The last year has been hard on many people and I know a lot of people who have been drinking a bit more than they would pre-pandemic.
If you are or have been using alcohol as a way to cope, please consider talking to a therapist or even a friend.
I know how hard it can be to get help and how difficult it can be to gauge the magnitude of your drinking, but there are always people who love you who can help you (even internet strangers).
Don't wait to get help until it's too late.
