@maelnallaen "They were British soldiers sent to a place they were not wanted and never have been wanted."
Sure they were greeted with tea and toast!
That's before the nationalists started tarring women who were talking to them
@StormontSources@timcairns There was always a suspicion among the PUL that nationalism used lawfare and the consociational arrangements cynically. Now that Jamie Bryson is using that tactic, it has exposed political nationalism has only being signed up to the institutions when it's used against the PUL
@HoratioNelson0 Clearly SF/SDLP and the other associated and dissident nationalists support doing that. Don't know why they raised such a fuss...
It's really the southern government's fault, when they made up the modern irish language in the 1940s they should have made it more aesthetic.
@elonmuskcrew "they stealed more" ๐
Also most mainstream historians conclude it does not meet the definition of genocide.
Irish nationalists usually only try to make this claim when other minorities around the world are more oppressed than them (they get jealous)
@ClaireHanna "a traumatised community" saying that while you joined up with a dissident republican who bombed the community he's apparently protecting is crazy.
Is SDLP's "new Ireland" idea just to have a nationalist veto on legal decisions just in case a prod gets found in the right?
@RobbieButlerMLA "craft a resolution that lasts"
Well that was meant to be the Parades Commission. Now political nationalism, led by a violent dissident republican, has decided "catholic areas" are exempt from the consociational arrangements. Have SF/SDLP abandoned the principles of the GFA?
@UnionistCentri1@OrangeOrder You haven't understood what I wrote then. I don't see how preventing members being married to Catholics or attending Catholic funerals is required for a protestant org. It can move past that, stay prod, and exist as a counter to the catholic church's own sectarian rules.
@think__32@mclaren_linzi That's entirely speculation and irrelevant since it doesn't relate to this one very specific PC determination.
The more concerning thing is how a legally confirmed right is being taken away by a mob led by a dissident, that's a more dangerous precedent and fuel for bad actors
@mclaren_linzi@think__32 "most of the parades carry off peacefully"
Would this march have done so without the protest organised by รirรญgรญ? Were the 35 men masked and armed?
Political nationalism is resorting to mob rule against an agreed legal process, so that tactic will be legitimised for bad actors
@BaronoftheMaine The main point is "commit no illegal acts" which includes blocking the road.
They could stand on the footpath and jeer at them and that could be allowed, but you can't break the law then claim it's a human right to do so (although, that sums up republican thinking).
