Very nicely put by Politopoulos, Frieman, Flexner and Borck: their paper - with case studies from Oceania, Britain, West Asia and the American Southwest - is *open access and Paper of the Month @CambUP_Archaeo

Video No.4. Again we are looking at a "battle axe" with an extremely long use life. If this was a weapon as was always assumed, it must have been used in lots and lots and lots of killings... or is there another story to tell? This object was found in a grave near Prague, Czechia.
Video No.2. Another so-called battle axe from the museum in Ústí nad Labem, Czechia. This one is quite representative of many of the axes we have seen. They don't really seem to tell a story of violence as was always believed, but in fact tell a very different story.
This is the sound of a quadrocopter, recorded by my sister during the night in Deir el Balah a few days ago. On another occasion last week, another quadrocopter shot bulletts into the room next to theirs, so they turned off the lights and layed low. Life in a ‘safe zone’ in Gaza.
More bombing, less food. The situation in central Gaza has become a lot more difficult over the last few days. My family currently eats one meal a day due to the shortage of fuel for cooking. Today’s post by my sister Saja on her Facebook.
Grotesquely those singled out for this disgusting treatment by gutter journalists and shameless politicians include Prof Michael Wildt who is Germany's leading historian of the Third Reich.
*Of course* Nathan Thrall's lecture in Germany was canceled. Anyone surprised? Any outrage? Any consequence? Or simply status quo in a country that regularly cracks down on critical voices of Palestinians and Jews? (great to see non-profits @nothilfe helping out in these times).
Let me tell you something about the illegal US blockade against Cuba.
The blockade is an extreme attack on a sovereign government that poses zero threat to the United States or any other country. It is opposed by the entire international community except for the US and Israel. The objective is to starve and immiserate the Cuban people to the point of desperation.
When similar sanctions were imposed on Iraq it lead to the deaths of 500,000 children. The world was rightly outraged. In Cuba, things have played out differently. The socialist government is doing everything possible to protect people from the impact. As a result, while the blockade has made life extremely difficult, mass child mortality has not occurred in Cuba in the way it did in Iraq.
This is testament to the resilience and solidarity of the Cuban economy. But it also means that the blockade has not grabbed headlines, and most people know little about it.
It is urgently important to push for an end to this cruel policy - especially if you have any influence within US political circles.
You might not know this about me, but I am the daughter of a German mum, a Palestinian father and a German dad. I created a fundraiser to get my siblings, nieces and nephews out of Gaza. Please consider donating a small amount and/or sharing. https://t.co/RufUnYIOew
What’s been happening in recent days in Berlin is downright fucking scary and regardless of whether you agree with the particular positions of these protesters, I commend your political naiveté if you fail to see how this is straight out of the AfD playbook - with liberal veneer
Five months ago Dr. Ghassan Abu-Sittah was prominently featured on this episode of @nytimes podcast The Daily describing the situation on the ground in Gaza. Today he was reportedly denied entry to Germany at the airport. He was supposed to give a lecture.

As the last recipient of the Albertus Magnus Professorship, I am adding my voice to those who denounce the decision to withdraw this honour from Prof. Nancy Fraser, and have written accordingly to the Rector of the University of Cologne. Perhaps they can still change course.
Did you know we publish two archaeology series for our colleagues from Kiel, and both of them are full #OpenAccess. The @SFB1266 series here: https://t.co/dsqXMxxuLG and the @ClusterRoots series here: https://t.co/nV9L18YLJg
