@B_Wills89@Rustavi I think Valeo in Tuam is a big reason to push for it here. They specialise in sensors for self driving. Ireland needs to be seen to be proactive in this sector
@adrianweckler There are about 8 billion people in the world and it's odd to think that Adrian Weckler has negative things to say about one person , Elon Musk in at least 25% of his articles 😛
🚨 Breaking news for Tesla fans in Belgium. 🇧🇪
The Belgian Federal Minister of Mobility has officially confirmed: if just one region (Brussels, Wallonia or Flanders) approves Tesla Full Self-Driving (FSD), the authorization becomes valid across the entire country.
No more regional roadblocks. This is a massive leap for autonomous driving in Belgium. Huge thanks to the federal team for the clarity. ⚡🚗
What an exciting day for the future of mobility. 🇪🇺🧿

FSD Supervised is now available in:
- United States
- Canada
- Mexico
- Puerto Rico
- China
- Australia
- New Zealand
- South Korea
- The Netherlands
- Lithuania
🇸🇪 Sweden officially confirms that Tesla FSD (Supervised) is progressing through the EU approval process and could roll out as early as summer or fall 2026!
The Swedish Transport Agency shared new details about FSD rollout in Europe:
✅ Vehicles with valid EU type approval would not require additional authorization in Sweden
✅ FSD (Supervised) received provisional EU approval from Dutch authority RDW on April 10, 2026
✅ Sweden is actively participating in the EU evaluation process
✅ Broad approval could happen as early as summer or fall 2026 if EU member states vote in favor
✅ Tesla is already conducting limited supervised FSD testing in Sweden with trained test drivers
✅ Consumer activation is not allowed yet
✅ Sweden is also evaluating how FSD approval could apply to existing Tesla vehicles already on the road
🇧🇪 Belgium's Flanders region has fast-tracked Tesla FSD approval — screening complete, limited road testing next. They could be the 2nd EU country after the Netherlands to approve it.
🇳🇱 Netherlands approved FSD April 10 after 1.6 million km of testing
🇸🇪 Sweden expediting review
🇧🇪 Belgium cleared screening in days
🇮🇪 Ireland?
Our neighbours are moving. We need to start testing and show that Ireland is at the leading edge of new technologies.

🎙️Final testing, hopefully a quick homologation in Flanders @elonmusk ?
💪 #Innovatie

Tesla is hoping to roll out its "full self-driving" software in the EU as early as this summer, with talks under way with the Irish Government among other nations

Looks like @Tesla's FSD is getting closer to approval in parts of Belgium!
Flemish Minister of Mobility Annick De Ridder (below) has officially asked Tesla to submit its FSD file to the Flemish administration, with instructions to provide clarity on a possible fast-track homologation by the end of the week.
As expected, the approval in the Netherlands from the RDW is resulting in other areas of Europe speeding up their own approval process/considering approval. The RDW is presenting to EU countries today on FSD and why they approved it.
Italian Senator Carlo Calenda has filed a formal parliamentary question directed at the Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, asking whether the government intends to prioritize the approval of Tesla‘s FSD (Supervised) in Italy. The Senator asked the minister to evaluate direct technical engagement with Tesla and with the Dutch vehicle authority RDW to accelerate the authorization process — ahead of the European-level meeting scheduled for next week.
"Tens of thousands of Tesla vehicles equipped with the necessary hardware to use supervised FSD are on the road in Italy. Activating this advanced driver assistance system would further improve road safety by reducing the risk of accidents due to distraction or human error; maintain full driver control and responsibility at all times and align Italy with other European countries that are advancing more rapidly with these innovative technologies."
If these European meeting go well next week, approval of FSD in Summer 2026 is a very real possibility. For context, the RDW's (Dutch vehicle authority) presentation on Tesla's FSD (Supervised) on May 5th was recently extended to 1 hour long (from 20 minutes), which I take as a good sign. Tesla owners in Europe that have been waiting years might finally be able to experience FSD in just a few short months.
