@Noahpinion Yeah, but it’s just not worth it for businesses to allow that kind of thing. Lots of people form happy relationships, but lots of women end up getting harassed and filing complaints. Also, a lot of office romances break up, leading to distractions and unprofessional behaviour

@foolmealex @AdamasNemesis I don’t think that’s it. I think people used to meet in the office a lot, but that also led to a lot of men treating the office as a place to pick up women, which led to a lot of harassment and so companies started to discourage it

Also, corporate culture made offices overly 1/2

@MedievalScholar Henry II, reformed the English legal system from trial by ordeal (e.g. hold a hot coal and ask god for the strength not to drop it to prove innocence) to a proper system of trial by jury, which was pretty impressive

Living standard in the communist countries were DRASTICALLY behind the west. Poland is dramatically richer and better off than it was then

- people who just want simple goodies vs baddies narratives
- people who want to imagine themselves as a space marine, inquisitor or whatever and not feel like they’re a genocidal religious maniac
- far right/trad con types who actually like the imperium
