The U.S is losing a war.
Gas prices are up 50%.
Interest rates are nearing 20-year highs.
Inflation remains elevated.
Budget deficits are nearly $2 trillion
Trump is declaring trade wars on allies.
ICE is killing Americans.
Corruption is rampant.
Meanwhile, in the U.S. Senate:
@terencecorcoran He wouldn't have the faintest clue what they were talking about at the summit. Just as he did in cabinet meetings when Morneau was talking.
Once again the USA is warning Canada about how it should conduct its affairs. American politicians still haven't figured out we don't respond to intimidation.
Republican senator warns Carney against tightening Canada's links to European Union. Sen. Susan Collins says both Canada and U.S. should return to bargaining table, @MikeCrawleyCBC & @Katie___Simpson report

@paulvieira It's really hard to say anything about 'associate membership' since its parameters are not defined. It may in fact mean that Canada gets the burdens of membership without the benefits.
Canada should cut interest rates for 2 reasons: 1) it will weaken the CAD (and thus lesson the impact of US tariffs) and 2) make US imports more expensive. Yes, it increases imports from others but this is a war that should end after the mid-terms.
Want to inflict pain on the United States? @MarkJCarney knows that US imports raw agricultural and industrial materials like malting barley and aluminum, primarily from Canada, to produce beer domestically. Imagine Americans enduring a beer shortage?
@anniedufour99 This trade war will be won by who can tolerate economic pain, and Americans have a low tolerance for economic pain. After all, they lose it when they have to pay 88 cents per litre for gas.
@anniedufour99 The last minute attack by the US on the french part of Canadian culture reveals how vulnerable Quebec is if it were to separate. The PQ strategy to delay a referendum until after Trump is a miscalculation; the US will not return to "normal" after he is gone.
Not reaching a deal takes away all of @PierrePoilievre talking points. It's not that @MarkJCarney was brilliant but Poilievre's positioning was so grounded on Carney making a bad deal. It lacked imagination and strategic thinking & the @CPC_HQ keeps painting itself into corners.
@StephenWickens1 What ? Our Constitution was created in 1982, and the people who wrote it knew something about economics and they were not thinking about hewing wood and drawing water. BTW the BNA act was not a constitutionโฆ
@StephenWickens1@LeCorridor "Common Usage" has been the problem because too many people failed to correct it! On the other hand, I can't imagine the Shuffle Demons singing: "Spa-deena Bus?"
@JonFraserTF@PierrePoilievre@stephenharper It's not a betrayal if the constituents changed their minds. Most politicians worth their salt can read their riding, and wouldn't cross if most people would support it. Gladu's riding has been Liberal as long as it has been Conservative.
