@RyanDLeaf@WSUCougarFB@CougfanCOM And we all know these coaches are looking for the next best thing. I'm fine if they just talk about what they are going to do for the program and leave it at that. But using words like loyalty in press conferences is disingenuous. If you don't mean what you say then don't say it.
@RyanDLeaf@WSUCougarFB@CougfanCOM Appreciate the commentary, Ryan. The underlying issue here is the business side of college sports. It's messy and sometimes downright disgusting. The majority of coaches are exceptional human beings. But they are forced to do business in a system that is in complete disarray.
@RyanDLeaf@WSUCougarFB Just hire someone that can win. Wins equal financial support and butts in seats. You know that Ryan. I witnessed it in person when you were at WSU.
Cougar Family,
I took my 24 hrs to process all of this. I thought back to what I said and how I felt following the last coaching departure. Nothing has changed. Coaches participate in the greatness of WSU - they don’t create it. I’ve yet to see one leave and have success 1)
“So, you just tell them you love them. Tell them all the big things you will accomplish together…how proud you are to be here with them. Then as soon as someone offers you a boatload more money…you just leave.”
“Just like that?”
“Just like that. Everyone does it.”
@gocougs123 Of course they did. Choices...leave a dying conference or make a few bucks on Olympic sports until the next college sports cycle. Business decision.
