The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection has issued a Code PURPLE Air Quality Alert for northwestern Pennsylvania through Friday, July 17th.

Wildfire smoke from northern Minnesota and south central Canada will continue to result in unhealthy air quality through Friday.

Everyone should limit outdoor strenuous activity and exercise due to poor air quality. Sensitive groups should avoid all outdoor activity. Sensitive groups include children, the elderly, and people suffering from heart disease, asthma, or other lung diseases.

🚨 AIR QUALITY ALERT - CODE RED 🚨
The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection has issued a Code Red Air Quality Alert for Mercer County through 8:00 PM this evening.
A Code Red alert means air pollution levels are unhealthy for everyone, not just sensitive groups. Residents may notice hazy conditions and the smell of smoke, which are being attributed to Canadian wildfire smoke affecting our region.
🔹 Limit prolonged outdoor activities and strenuous exercise. 🔹 Consider moving outdoor activities indoors when possible. 🔹 Children, older adults, and individuals with heart or lung conditions should take extra precautions. 🔹 Keep windows closed and use air conditioning with a clean filter if available.
If you experience difficulty breathing, chest pain, or worsening respiratory symptoms, seek medical attention as needed.

EXTREME HEAT WARNING IN EFFECT UNTIL 10 PM FRIDAY
The National Weather Service has issued an Extreme Heat Warning for our area through 10 PM Friday. Heat index values may reach up to 107°F, with limited relief overnight.
Impacts:
Dangerous heat and high humidity will significantly increase the risk of heat-related illnesses.
Precautionary Actions:
Drink plenty of fluids
Stay in air-conditioned environments
Limit time outdoors and avoid direct sunlight
Check on relatives, neighbors, and those at higher risk
Important Reminder:
Do not leave children or pets in vehicles under any circumstances. Interior temperatures can become lethal within minutes.

🚨 SCAM ALERT 🚨
The Grove City Police Department is warning residents about a recent scam involving their phone number and impersonation of law enforcement.
On Wednesday, May 20, a victim reported being contacted by someone claiming to be from the Federal Trade Commission (FTC). The caller alleged the victim was involved in trade violations and fraudulent activity, stating there was a warrant issued and fines owed. The victim was instructed to send cash.
When the victim questioned whether it was a scam, the caller said that “Grove City Police Chief Michael Allias” would contact them. Shortly after, the victim received another call appearing to come from the Grove City Police Department’s phone number (724-458-7925). A man posing as Chief Allias reassured the victim the situation was legitimate and directed them to mail cash to California.

No government agency will ever ask for payment in cash sent through the mail.
No legitimate business or agency will request payment via gift cards or money transfer services.
No one should ever request remote access to your phone or computer.
