Potentially unpopular opinion:
Every time we tell an OL to โsit backโ or โkeep your chest upโ or โsit in your chairโ in their pass sets, we are just giving the DL a bigger and bigger target to work with when contact is made.
Keep your posture/demeanor from your stance while setting. We tell them to โcopy your stanceโ. They should look like we picked them up & set them back down in their new spot after each drive.
Not only will you have better balance, which will allow you to set faster, when that contact does happen you are in a more stable position to fight his pressure with pressure of your own.
When designing drills, a coaches major job is to tune in the level/stress/intensity. Keep in the learning phase, not just doing. At the same time, not overwhelming or destroying confidence.
