Talking to my good friend @BruceIngman1 yesterday and he mentioned he had been at an Illustration research conference where the work of @GDEnetwork was cited as a model of good practice. Well done to those involved. Proud to have been there from the off. @J_Corazzo, @darrenraven.
GDEN provides a space (a lab) to investigate the social, cultural, political and ecological contexts (and requirements) of graphic design education. Here’s some of the radical proposals from our Ideas of Revolt symposium held in 2017 at Sheffield Hallam University.
Our GDEN get-togethers work towards making public the production of collective discourse concerned with change, value and power in graphic design education. And you know the conversations are good when the hand gestures look like this!
Since 2014 we’ve organised 12 symposiums, had over 850 attendees and gained 480 members. So definitely an increase in the amount of lanyard badges to print but what hasn’t changed is our focus to provide a space that supports critical and progressive action towards GD education.
Hello again! It’s been a minute (or two) hasn’t it? But we’re happy to say we're back and have some exciting announcements coming very soon. Until then we’re going to be reminiscing on some of our past events and the good ol’ crowded room days!
had a lovely time at @GDEnetwork 's Time + Space conference last week — the paper i delivered " not really the end " will be posted online in a couple of weeks
FRAMEWORK FICTIONS - Towards an alternative reality for [Graphic] Design Education. Thrilled to have had the opportunity to speculate/build the future of our discipline with this lovely bunch as part of the @GDEnetwork Time + Space conference. #timespace
