Last year, a coworker randomly asked me to hand-deliver an antique violin across the country. I said yes, because why not. I had no idea what I was getting into, and now I need your help. A 🧵
“Homs, I miss you. I will try to find the words and I will fight the forgetting. You are not a footnote to me,” writes @Dr_Ammar_Azzouz. https://t.co/j6DXUkCXfc
A quick Google search on domestic abuse will reveal that across almost all contexts, 80% of domestic abuse cases are dismissed because of ‘lack of evidence.’ @_HeHop is a game changer when it comes to that issue, and we’re trying to make it go global ✊🏻
Andrew Tate texted a woman "I love raping you" and described strangling her in an audio she shared with UK police. The police told her there was "an ounce of doubt" that prevented them from prosecuting him.

Imagine where would we be now if we had started acting on climate 50 years ago — greener energies, more efficient electric vehicles, and probably whole new ways of powering global transportation 🥲
Breaking News: Exxon scientists predicted global warming decades ago with remarkable accuracy, a study found, even as the company publicly dismissed the threat. https://t.co/K8XvVozeYp
@MsAshleeLee Final point- we have LOTS of experience telling people NOT to have sex throughout the course of human existence. It has NEVER worked. (It’s not like we’re out there otherwise telling gay men to have unprotected sex- we’ve been discouraging it for 40 years/ since start of HIV ).
@MsAshleeLee The problems with covid were it got politicized, and we didn’t adjust quickly enough.
For monkeypox, we already have vaccines/ treatment / some testing capacity. So it’s about deployment.
@MsAshleeLee I understand the confusion and frustration. The idea (at least from my POV) of early (and onerous) mitigation was to prevent hospitals from being overwhelmed and to buy time to stand up testing, and treatment/ vaccine development. Solely by that measure, it was a success...
And because you can never please everyone with 1 (or 10) tweets…
People won’t stop having sex- 🙉 pox or no
Unprotected sex with strangers is not advised- 🙉pox or no
Condoms are a good thing- 🙉pox or no
Homophobia and stigmatizing language are bad thing- monkeypox or no!
Maybe this will stop straight people in my mentions from throwing the words “pillow biters” and “faggots” around since you’re all so quick to use that :)))
@Hollywoodhippi@CDCgov I never said the outbreak didn’t happen among gay men. But what we are seeing now is that the outbreak is framed as being a matter of being queer, which it isn’t. Because of HIV, gay men tend to get tested very quickly if they have any skin issues, which…
@GDelaoustre@Hollywoodhippi@CDCgov I was wondering how somebody can be so uneducated in elementary statistics/probabilities but then, ofc, found pronouns in the profile. You are not an idiot, simply a woke activist. Fair enough.
...and that close physical contact with an infected person increases your risk. We also know monkeypox is indiscriminate – anyone can get it, and it is not a gay disease. Stay vigilant and use this helpful infographic by artist @GDelaoustre to check for symptoms.
Monkeypox has been declared a public health emergency by the World Health Organisation – and not a moment too soon. There is still a lot we don’t know about this latest outbreak of the disease but what we do know is cases are increasing sharply in North America and Europe...
@Hollywoodhippi@CDCgov … may also explain why the number of known cases in gay men is so high. But this virus is spreading, and soon it’ll be very widespread if we continue in that direction
