STOP trying to deny what made America great it makes you look small and insignificant.

America is great BECAUSE of immigrants not in-spite of them. Jesus was not a white country singer, he was a refugee. So I think that makes MAGA the Pharisees.

A. He was the proverbial white elephant in the room. Not only did he highlight the colonialism of his roots, but he also identified how that colonialism still exists today with the utilities, life and the challenges that still exist today on the Island.

He used the same dancers and artists from his residency in Puerto Rico. He performed all of the hits that won him his Grammy. There are more Puerto Ricans living on the mainland than on the Island. And, despite the fact that they don’t pay federal taxes, they are still the poorest part of our nation. Heck, even Guam ranks higher in capital per income than the island. Puerto Ricans have served in every war since WW I. We’ve bled for the U.S. The government allowed experimentation on us in the same manner similar to the Tuskegee experiments. Yet, we endure.

Hip Hop, Reggaeton, DemBow and the Spanish rap culture has made the U.S. billions. When they used our pharmaceutical supplies from unique places such as El Yunque, which is the only jungle in the U.S., back in the 1980’s until the 1990’s and then changed the Puerto Rican Constitution under Pres. Clinton, who along with Senator Byrd, the former highest ranking KKK member to ensure that municipal bonds got paid first before infrastructure the did it with the understanding that it would eventually destabilize the local economy. When it became apparent that Puerto Ricans were questioning U.S. involvement in the island in the 1990’s and started BRAC, the change in the constitution was the punishment we were handed.

Under Pres. Obama, the National Committee for the Puerto Rican Day Parade had to run an article because the president decided to hold back CMS funding almost 9 months after the budget had been approved. That is why the island defaulted on their credit. Then, the real punishment came along under the guise of La Junta, which forced the minimum wage down to under $5 and forced many Puerto Ricans to move to the mainland. To this day, the economy of the island still lags behind the rest of the country, the healthcare is substandard and there is so much inefficiency due to lack of proper oversight that it’s ridiculous. But, don’t take my word for it. We had the Arecibo observatory collapse upon itself, the power is constantly going out and recovery of the island, which is a fraction of the size of Florida after Hurricane Maria has been slow to come along.

So, when folks question why was the show in Spanish? Well, the Spaniards did conquer the Americas before the Brits came over; there is NO OFFICIAL LANGUAGE in the U.S.; and, he was hired by the NFL to reach out to a younger audience who does listen to his music. Just like Puerto Ricans are required to learn English, the most common language taught, which is a mandatory requirement in U.S. high schools, is Spanish.

Food for thought… When an artist who happens to be a citizen wins awards for his music which is primarily in another language, what do you think he is going to sing?

For Chris Brown: Brother, you had your time. If you weren’t constantly in the news for nonsense and were winning awards, you’d probably have a shot a performing again. Throwing shade is as played out as you’ve been. Sure, you have millions. But, aside that voice of yours, it is obvious that you’re bereft of many other things that money can’t buy- class being one of them. Haters are gonna hate.

Most of the dancing was salsa. The other half is mainstream reggaeton. And, I wouldn’t understand how one could find reggaeton dancing to be an issue when we have hip-hop and the dancing is pretty much the same. All of the songs performed were part of the album that won several Grammys. And, the main purpose of the show was to appeal to the other half of the American public that doesn’t really watch the Super Bowl.

As a Puerto Rican, I don’t always like vulgar and demeaning songs. But, his music, when translated, isn’t all about vulgarity. And, he identified four months before most of the music would be in Spanish. The U.S. is forecasted to have Hispanics as the largest group in the country by 2050. If you don’t know Spanish despite the fact that it’s been taught in school for over 50 years, that Hispanics discovered the country, and that they’ve been here the entire time the country has been alive, I don’t know what to say. Maybe we should rescind your taco Tuesday and Cinco de Mayo privileges.

Y para ti, Pariguayo, no seas ridículo. Go visit the island and tell me if you feel you’re in America when you visit. The standard of living on the island is much lower than any city or state in the U.S. The fact that this is the first time a Latin Artist sings in Spanish seems to be lost to you. Are you truly Puerto Rican? The song Ricky Martin sang Lo Que Le Pasó a Hawaii is politically aligned. In English it means What Happened to Hawaii. Hawaii, another island treated poorly, whose people were displaced and their homes and land taken… But, what do I know?

@raqisright Puerto Ricans have been citizens since 1917. The dancing for reggaeton is no different than the dancing for hip-hop, which there have been plenty of performances. And, the bulk of the dancing was mixed with salsa music, which everyone takes classes for.
