Together, we show many existing ideas about the effects of PR extend to developing democracies but the mechanisms driving those effects may be about candidate-vote vs. party-voter linkages rather than changes in programmatic politics, political competition, new party entry, etc.

Young women exhibited lower levels of political participation, confidence about politics, and interest in politics at baseline. Providing them with both information and a boosted sense of efficacy increased their political interest and their political participation.
