In the opening speech at the UN Multistakeholder hearing on HIV and AIDS #UNMSH that happened in May 2026, one of the critical asks from @gnpplus was clear: PLHIV demand uninterrupted, affordable, and stigma-free treatment for every person living with HIV which includes long-acting options & continued investment in cure and vaccine research.
“Quality of life must become a core outcome of HIV treatment.” This means we move from celebrating access to treatment as the only measure of success to ensuring access to quality lifesaving treatment.
As governments gather for the High-Level Meeting on 22–23 June, we urge their commitment to ensuring access to treatment, viral suppression and quality of life for ALL people Living with HIV and steadfast commitment to ending new HIV infections towards HIV epidemic control.
GNP+ and the global PLHIV community will continue to lead on this demand.

@floriako@SboNkosiZA
Why this matters: #PLHIV deserves integrated, people-centred care that addresses HIV + co-morbidities in one place — not fragmented systems.
The discussion will examine opportunities, challenges, and community-led priorities for strengthening the integration of HIV services into PHC and Universal Health Coverage frameworks to inform advocacy and policy discussions during and after #UNHLM2026.

@gnpplus joins the Future of HIV Markets Forum by @UNITAID@CHAI_health this week 9-11 June in Nairobi
#Longacting treatments are expanding options for people living with HIV, but no single approach will meet everyone's needs. Sustaining treatment for life requires choice.
As outlined in the PLHIV ASKs for #HLM2026, communities are calling for investment in long-acting treatments, better pediatric formulations, cure and vaccine research, and affordable access to new HIV tools. Availability is not access.@afrocab_hiv@WHO@UNAIDS@floriako@SboNkosiZA
Communities have a vital role to play in shaping the future of HIV policy, programming, and markets.
Meaningful community engagement must go beyond a box-ticking or academic exercise—it should be a genuine partnership that informs decision-making and drives equitable access to innovations.
@afrocab_hiv 's Regional CAB Coordinator is proud to contribute to these important conversations at the ongoing Future of HIV Markets Forum in Nairobi, Kenya, co-hosted by @UNITAID and @CHAI_health.
Together, we are advocating for a future where community voices are not only heard but actively shape policies, products, and investments that impact the lives of people affected by HIV.

💪"RRP+ Strengthens HIV Education and Access to Testing Among Tea Estate Workers and Host Communities"
From 1st – 5th June 2026, @rrpplus in collaboration with @RBCRwanda and @AbbottNews conducted community-based #HIV outreach activities in tea plantation communities, including tea factories, tea collection centers, and workers' camps.
The campaign forms part of RRP+'s ongoing efforts to strengthen HIV prevention, testing, treatment, and care among tea estate workers and surrounding communities through community-led and people-centered approaches.
The outreach focused on:
➡️Increasing awareness and understanding of #HIV prevention, #testing, #treatment, and care services;
➡️Promoting regular HIV testing and early diagnosis;
➡️Demonstrating and distributing HIV self-test kits to expand access to confidential and convenient testing;
➡️Encouraging correct and consistent condom use and other HIV prevention measures;
➡️Providing information on treatment adherence, viral suppression, and healthy living for people living with HIV;
➡️Addressing HIV-related #stigma and discrimination through community dialogue and peer-led education.
During the campaign, HIV self-test kits supported by Abbott were distributed to eligible community members, enabling individuals to know their HIV status in a private and convenient manner and facilitating timely linkage to health services when needed.
Through awareness sessions, peer-led discussions, and community mobilization activities, tea estate workers, adolescents, young women, discordant couples, and other community members received accurate information on HIV prevention, testing, care, and treatment services.
The campaign also strengthened understanding of the role of communities in supporting treatment adherence and reducing stigma and discrimination.
Key Achievements:
✅12,500 tea estate workers and community members reached with HIV prevention, testing, care, and treatment messages.
✅4,500 HIV self-test kits distributed, expanding access to community-based HIV testing services.
✅250,000 condoms distributed to support safer sexual practices and prevent new HIV infections.
✅Increased awareness and demand for HIV testing and early diagnosis among tea plantation communities.
✅Strengthened referrals and linkage to HIV prevention, care, and treatment services.
✅Enhanced knowledge on treatment adherence, viral suppression, and healthy living among beneficiaries.
✅Improved community engagement in addressing HIV-related stigma and discrimination.
✅Strengthened collaboration among tea factory management, health facilities, local authorities, community leaders, and HIV response stakeholders.
These achievements were made possible through the dedication of RRP+ staff, trained peer facilitators, and community ambassadors who worked closely with tea plantation communities to ensure that essential HIV information and services reached those most in need.
The campaign was reflecting a shared commitment to sustaining Rwanda's progress toward HIV epidemic control by expanding access to HIV prevention, testing, treatment, and care services for vulnerable and priority populations.
Together, we continue to empower communities to know their status, access lifesaving services, reduce stigma, and contribute to ending AIDS as a public health threat by 2030.

Dr. Karin Hatzold PSI Global presents an HIV Self-Testing Investment Framework, highlighting how investments in HIV self-testing drive impact far beyond diagnosis from increased treatment uptake and prevention access to stronger health systems, greater equity, and healthier communities. @SelfCare4UHC@floriako@SboNkosiZA
"We stand at a pivotal moment. The Global AIDS Strategy 2026–2031 offers a historic opportunity to embrace self-care as the foundation for genuine transformation. It serves as a pathway to innovation, advancing differentiated service delivery (DSD) through optimised treatment, prevention and point-of-care diagnostics that empower informed decision-making. Investing in self-care strengthens health systems." - GNP+ CO-ED @floriako message at the @SelfCare4UHC self-care conversation @SboNkosiZA
